Chapter Two: Don't Argue.

 “Sit down,”  my apparent neighbor told me as he led me into his apartment. I knew it was extremely idiotic to go into a stranger’s apartment at 9pm on a Saturday, but I figured if he was my neighbor for a year and wanted to rape or murder me, he would have already. 

 I made my way to a chair in the living area, taking note that his apartment furniture was almost identical to mine. I had never stepped foot in any other apartments in this whole building, which I hadn’t realized until just now.

 The man came and sat in a chair across from the one I had chosen. “So... You got a name?” I asked him, before proceeding. I wiped my face once more, trying to get rid of all the marks of smeared makeup. 

 He laughed. “Johnny. Johnny Depp.” he told me, reaching out to shake my hand. I knew that name, but I didn’t know where from, because I had never met this man a day in my life. 

 “So what’s up doll? What’s got you so riled up?” he asked sweetly, using his sleeve to help me wipe some of the smeared eyeliner off my cheek. 

 “Why are you being so nice to me?” I asked, rather than answering the question. “It’s what neighbors are for.” he answered, which caused me to cry much more. 

 “I’m not your neighbor... Not anymore at least..” I said quietly in the midst of my tears. “I just got kicked out.” I explained slightly. 

 He looked at me sadly, “Parents?” he asked. “No... Boyfriend. My parents kicked me out a year ago.. So I’ve been living with him.”. 

 Suddenly, Johnny seemed furious. “He just kicked you out on the street with nowhere to go?!” He shouted. I simply nodded, confused at why he was so upset. Out of nowhere, he stood and walked back out of his apartment.

“Wait! Where are you going?” I shouted at him, following as quickly as I could. When I stepped out his door, I saw him across the hall, banging on my-.. No. Alex’s apartment. 

Alex swung the door open, expecting it to be me I’m sure, and before I even understood what was happening, I saw Johnny’s fist hit Alex’s chin with a force that I never expected. Alex went stumbling backwards and Johnny slammed the door shut before Alex could retaliate. 

 “Go. Go!” Johnny turned and shouted at me, gesturing for his apartment door. He grabbed my hand and we ran into his place, locking the door behind us. 

 “Dude! What the Hell?” I asked, slightly amused. “Sorry, but I hate that guy now. He got what he deserves.” He said, calmly sitting back down. I sat down in front of him and started laughing. “What if he comes knocking at the door?” I asked, in the middle of my laughter. “He doesn’t know where I live. I’ve never seen him in my life.” he explained, joining in on my laughter. 

 When I stopped laughing, Johnny looked at me with pity, “Now where are you going to go? You said your parents kicked you out too? How old are you? Do you have a job?” He asked. 

 “I don’t know... I have nowhere else to go really. I don’t have any friends.” I responded, “I’m nineteen, and yes, I have a job.. Thats why Alex broke up with me. He claimed I never made time for him.” I finished, fighting back tears and feeling more anger than sadness. 

 Johnny didn’t say anything else for a while, and just looked at me. “What are you looking at?” I finally asked him jokingly. 

 “Whats your full name?” He asked, rather than answering my question, even though he already knew my last name. “Shailiene Medley Waters...” I said, self conscious about my name. It was a hippy name and I knew it. 

 He smiled. “Alright Shai. Well you’re gonna crash here for as long as you need, and in the meantime, we’re going to search for your own place. Don’t even debate it, because I’m not letting you. You’re staying here for the night, end of story. I’ll sleep on the couch, you can have the bed.” he insisted. I didn’t want to except the offer, feeling like I would be a bother, but he told me not to argue, so I didn’t. 

 Authors note: 

Yes, I know it is quite similar to my other story, Cold, Hungry, And Torn, but this is only the begninning of it. I'm hoping I can make chapter three much more... New. Hope it's alright! ---Hazel
