James POV
He starred back at me. His brows were furrowed as he looked up at me, my face becoming slightly hot in the process. He seemed to slightly smirk and motioned to someone next to him. They whispered some more and his smirk fell into a confused look.
He eyed me again, silent and seemed to have sweat on his head.
"I-I need to go." He stuttered and his eyes became drowsy, his hands reaching his head. His voice was deep and had an accent I couldn't identify. The demon stood up and started to run past the restaurant. He started hyperventilating as I stood up and started chasing him. Why was I even chasing this stranger? I just couldn't control myself.
He stopped and fell, his hand over his mouth as tears were rolling down his cheeks. I stopped next to him as he looked up at me, his breathing was abnormal as if he was dying. I sat next to him, finally looking at his appearance.
He had a red hoodie on and black glasses. His horns were curved at an angle and he had a clubs tail behind him. The demon's eyes were the most stunning thing about him. They were a deep forest like color, almost hazel. I continued to stare at him, not realizing what I was doing.
"H-hey who are you?" He said between sniffs as I scooted closer to him. He still covered his mouth as his hyperventilating came to a slow. the devil still cried silently, putting his remaining hand into his hoodie pocket.
"James. You?"
"Adam." We sat there in silence as I looked over to my right and saw Rebbeca and Jaiden waving their arms in a cheerful manner. Next, to me, Adam put on his hood and took his hand off his mouth and leaned over. I looked back at him and saw hat he was coughing up blood. Like a lot of blood. How do you even have blood up here?
He stood up awkwardly and stubbled toward an alley. I wanted to follow him but I couldn't, my body was astray.
"James, there you are!" Rebbeca jumped up, hovering with her wings. I looked back in her direction and her smile vanished. "Are you okay?"
Jaiden stood behind her and had the same look with her brows upon her forehead. I said nothing, I was just wondering about Adam. Is he okay? No, I shouldn't worry about him.
"I'm okay," I said with a monotone voice, their expressions did not change. Jaiden crossed her arms in disbelief.
"Well, we're sorry we didn't include you in the conversation. I'm guessing we got carried away," Rebbeca stated, changing the topic, "Also what table did you go to to get out here?"
"Well, it was a table with a bunch of those people. You know the signature lady said they were devil-angel things." Jaiden looked at me with a contorted face with a look that seemed to say "That's your best?"
"you know those people have committed a sin in heaven. I know a lot of them are from mistakes and I'm not judging them but I thought you wanted to hang out with us." Rebbeca said, getting in front of Jaiden and seemed to be towering over me.
My body felt the urge to go to Adam. I needed to know what's going on!
So before I knew it I ran towards the alley he went through and saw him, knees up against his chest, crying softly and had blood all over his hands. he looked over at me with his brown eyes and put his hoodie over his head.
"Adam, what's happening? Are you ok?" I whispered to him as I sat next to him. The alley was surprisingly dark and had little trash. I eyed the corner of the wall. not wanting The two women to burst in and see me with Adam. I mean nothing is happening, it just felt somewhat rude for them to follow me into here.
"I'm so fucking stupid," he muttered over and over and continued burying his face into his hoodie.
"Adam, just tell me what's happening and I could help you."
"You don't understand. if he sees me like this I'm going to hell!" He said and started to cry violently as he started to cough up more blood onto the floor. I scooted closer to him again and started to rub his back. He seemed like the type of person who tried to look tough to cover some sort of pain. He went closer to me and started to cry into my chest, hugging me in the process.
He calmed down only a little bit when Jaiden and Rebbeca flew down to where we were. I started to think about how I don't have wings. they didn't say a thing and sat to the side opposite of us. Adam got off my chest and continued to cool down, he looked at his hands, which were dripping with a thick ruby liquid.
Jaiden spoke first, "is this who you were chasing?" I nodded and stared at my hands as well, awestruck about my life before going to "Heaven." How is Adam supposed to have blood? Is it because he's a hybrid?
"I remember you," Adam whispered, hot tears coming down his cheeks as he pointed at me. "He was the last thing I saw when I died. I don't know if you murdered me or something else. But I can tell we had some sort of relationship." Everyone ignored what he said, but it was copied into my mind.
Rebbeca seemed to look at Adam's hands, scowling. "you committed a sin."
"And how do you know that?" Jaiden said, raising her hand in response.
Rebbeca grabbed the hands of the demon and toppled him over, showing Jaiden his bloody fingers. Jaiden covered her mouth in reply.
"What did you do you demon?!"
"I-I won't say, he'll punish me!"
"say right now or I'll send you to them!" I was confused during the whole conversation, but I needed to help him. One way or another.
"I had thoughts!" Rebecca let go of him as he slammed against the ground, coughing up more blood and unable to get up.
"REBBECA! what has gotten into you?" Jaiden grabbed her wrist but she didn't react. Instead, Rebbeca looked over at Adam and said,
"What kind of thoughts you sinner?" Adam couldn't answer, too much blood was in his throat.
"R-rule S-s." He began to throw up the red liquid, gurgling in pain and passing out.
"Rebbeca, what is wrong with you?" Jaiden let go of her wrist and backed up and stared at me. I began to cry, falling over and covered my face. Why? Why? Why couldn't I help him sooner? Jaiden went over to me and tried to ease me but to no avail.
Rebbeca stood there across from us and ran out of the valley. Jaiden says she doesn't think that's Rebbeca at all and that there were rumors about demons from hell tricking the system and went to heaven disguised as angles.
I didn't want to say a word. I wanted to know what happened to Adam and who HE is. I just needed him.
