Making Kim Namjoon my ex boyfriend was probably the biggest mistake I'd ever made in my life. Right after agreeing to be his girlfriend in the first place. It made it worse that every fucking birthday party I went to, he had to be at.
It was Chaeyoung's birthday this time around, her 24th to be exact and her boyfriend wanted an intimate setting with just our close friends in attendance. It fucking sucked that Jimin and Chaeyoung met through Namjoon and I. They were dating.. but now we're not.
So let me break down our past relationship.
Sex. Jealousy. Sex. Fights. Sex. Differences.
You know what was missing? Love.
That lead to our eventual break up.
And after three months, we still couldn't stand each other.
"—Happy birthday to you!"
We all cheered as Chaeyoung blew out her candles, thanking everyone for the celebration.
My eyes scanned the room of the pretty faces, happiness. All except for Namjoon's and his goddamn +1. Either the girl couldn't take a hint or she just fucking loved to hump his goddamn side.
My jaw clenched finding a gap in the conversation to stand and excuse myself, my heart clenching in anguish but my head telling me not to react. I leaned against the counter and took small breaths, in and out to relieve myself of the jealousy. Of the anger because it was so easy for him to move on when all I could think about was always trying to fix whatever we had.
My eyes closed and my head hung backwards as I mumbled the ice cream song in my head. A coping mechanism for my anxiety. A weird one at that.
"You good?"
My eyes snapped open, head tilting forward to see Namjoon in all his glory looking worried. Worried— was such a wrong word for me to assume.
"Mm." I hummed forcing a feigned smile. "Fine."
"You didn't have any cake."
"Wasn't hungry." I turned around to look for something to fumble with when Namjoon met me at my right. "Aren't you supposed to be keeping your girlfriend company?"
He sighed. "You're jealous."
"Oh god, Namjoon." I rolled my eyes. "Don't be full of yourself."
"So why else have you been glaring holes at me and her the whole night?" He asks in a hushed tone, body too close to me for comfort. "Or do you have an excuse for that to?"
"I have all the right for my excuses. Yours I'm not so sure of." I accused gritting my teeth moving my heel to storm away.
His fingers curled around my wrist and my heart jumped, stomach churning at the return of his touch. It's been so long.. since we've had contact. We talked.. said hi. But not like this.
I glared up at his extremely tall and charismatic figure, his eyes boring holes into my own. "Don't make this about me."
