Jin grabbed his keys out of the bowl on the shoe cabinet. "See ya later, Legs!"
"Later tattor!" I called back, raising my hand to wave from where I'm laying on my window couch.
I don't envy him, having to walk down 15 flights of stairs today. One of the building's 2 elevators — on either end of the building — is being renovated, so of course the only other one broke.
Even higher class buildings have their problems.
Yeeeeeaaaaah, Jin's parents may or may not be loaded, and my family's pretty wealthy themselves but ... let's just say money isn't a concern for me either.
We used to live in a pretty small place, until me & him had a weird late night — sugar infused — conversation about how much we'd be willing to pay for a nice view. Just for a nice view. We didn't care what the rest of the place looked like — aside from my insistence that it had to have a nice shower, cause come on man. Warm showers are the holy grail of relaxation and if I can't have a nice shower at the end of a long day, then forget it. I don't care how fancy your place is.
Anyhow, that's how we ended up here. In this place that's honestly way too big just for the two of us — 6 bedrooms is a little much, I reckon. Just a little. But it has nice showers and a fantastic city view. The part where there's skyscrapers on one side, and normal low to ground houses & buildings on the other so you can see the horizon. Perfect for skyline stuff.
And yes, it costs an ouchie to rent month-to-month with an 8 month lease that's up for renewal in about 2 months. If you can't math, or it's just plain too early (or late) for that, it's been just over 6 months since we had that conversation.
Jin moved in with me last year after we met at something my step-monster put together, some party or whatever and he was the only other person there who looked like he didn't want to be there and wasn't afraid to put on a bitch face to show it.
Yeah, we got along right off the bat. Two weeks later he called me up, needing a place to stay cause his drunk roommate literally crashed their car through the living room of the house they were sharing with 2 other people. I know right? Hell of a story. Usually it's something like 'my house flooded' or there was a fire. Nope. Dumbass roomie just got wasted and had car keys. Bada-bing bada-boom, new roommate and best friends ever since we had a LoTR marathon and he started making breakfast in the mornings ;).
Our place isn't a penthouse or anything, there's four more floors above us, but it's got two levels inside the apartment. Bedrooms upstairs, everything else downstairs.
My favorite spot — outside of my own room — is the couch by the wall of windows in the living room. Where I currently am, laying down like a tired cat.
It's literally pushed up against the windows because I like to sit here and sometimes nap when the sun heats it up. Yeah, full cat mode like every day. It's great.
A spot to just sit and cozy up in a really fluffy blanket in my biggest pajamas (super comfy black shorts and the biggest T-shirt I own; it's like a poncho) to drink something warm on a cool day and watch the rain fall while I listen to music, or put on a movie. Or video games, cause I have a PS4 and my favorite person in the world Kim Seokjinnie bought a big ass TV the size of the entire wall because the random space there bothered him. (I feel like it was a psychological hack by the building owners. He got swindled, but whatever, I got a big ass high def curved TV to play the God of War series on. (˵¯͒ ◡ ¯͒˵)✧)
This is a nice place to work too, especially after it gets dark and I can just glance over the top of my laptop at the lights of life twinkling out there in the dark.
