(( Y/N )) woke to what she could only describe as the screeching of a menstruating banshee on acid. Poking her head slightly out from beneath the safety of her warm comforter, she squinted her eyes against the dimly lit room. The sounds of shattering glass and heavy objects screeching across wooden floors. The symphony of chaos only indicated one thing: her mother was awake.

She groaned, struggling against the tangled mess of her bedding to free herself. Swinging her legs over the edge, feet planted firmly to the ground, she blindly grabbed at her night stand. Fingers finding the cool screen of her phone, she gripped the device and pulled it close. With the push of a finger against the power key, the screen lit up, blinding her.

"Five forty-six," she paused, tuning out the profane screeches of her mother down the hall before pushing up from the bed, yawning into a lazy stretch, "Right on time."

With a short sigh, (( Y/N )) shed her nightwear and quickly pulled on her school uniform, complete with dark leggings. Examining herself in the mirror, she put on a small smile for herself as she chirped, "No skin, that's a win!"

Satisfied with her usual look for school, she tossed her nightwear onto the untidy bed. Cautiously, she tip-toed to the door, pressing her ear against the cold white painted pressboard. The commotion had subsided. (( Y/N )) waited patiently as the heavy slamming of feet rushed up the staircase and down the hall. With the firm slamming of the door at the end, she let out a breath and turned the knob.

Making her way down to the ground floor, she observed the damage. The majority of the dishes had been hurled across the kitchen into the dining room, a vase toppled off of the coffee table which now laid on its side. Peering into the living room, she watched as her dad scurried about with a broom and pan, cleaning up as best he could.

"Dad, would you like some help?" the man jumped, the objects that were once in his hands clattering to the ground as he gripped his chest.

"(( Y/N ))! You startled me." Despite his panic, he laughed it off with a tired smile, "No, dear, it's fine. I got this. Go get yourself some breakfast."

With a slight nod, she did exactly that. It was all a part of the routine. Plodding into the kitchen, (( Y/N )) quickly browsed the cupboards to access the remains. A few bowls and a single plate remained. Grabbing down the plate, she set it gently on the counter before heading to the freezer, grabbing out the bag stuffed with pre-made pancakes.

Though the pancakes took only a few short minutes to defrost and warm up, time seemed to crawl along at a snail's pace. Stopping the microwave with one second to go, she popped the door and cancelled the timer, swiftly grabbing the plate holding her pending deliciousness. As she did every other morning, she slathered butter on each layer before drowning the stack in syrup.

Glancing at the clock, she shoveled the first bite into her mouth. Three minutes; all the more time she had to enjoy her food before the chaos resumed. Compared to the time it took to heat her food, the time it took to eat it flew right by. As she crammed the last morsel into her mouth, she slung her bag over her shoulder as she made a mad dash to the sink. As she rinsed the sticky remains, the once slammed door swung open, crashing against a wall.

As the angry stomps moved toward the staircase, (( Y/N )) curried across the kitchen toward the front door. Her feet moved in a panic, shoving themselves into her school shoes as the steps rushed down the stairs. Just as the yelling picked up, she whipped open the door and dashed out, shutting it quickly behind her.

"Got to love an average morning."
