Emma's Point Of View
I am Emma Jones, one of the only people in this boring typical town with any imagination. The only other person with any personality is my best friend Sophie Johnson, or as I call her Soph. She calls me Blue though. I never really understood why, my eyes are blue, but that is normal. All we really want is to leave this boring town and have fun out in the world. Mom acts like I'm important to her and Dad in public, but they don't really care about me or even like me. They say that I'm their "problem kid". It's almost time for dinner, but I don't really want to eat, so I'm gonna sneak out.
I slip out the window onto the roof, seeing as my window leads to the roof, a small mistake on Mom and Dad's part. I jump off as silently as possible, but I think I may have been heard.
"Honey? I think I heard something outside." my mom yells to my dad. Oh great, now I have to deal with being ultra sneaky. Slowly and carefully I walk towards the road and then legged it.Within a couple of minutes I'm at Sophs house. With all my might I knock on the door.
After a minute I hear a voice say " WHAT DO YOU WANT! I DON'T WANNA BUY NO GIRL SCOUT COOKIES!"
I laugh then say " It's only me Mrs. Johnson." The door unlocks and I'm invited inside.
"Sorry dear," Mrs. Johnson says, " but I do think I told you to call me Dorothea."
"Oh, sorry Dorothea," I apologized. I really love Dorothea, she's more of a mom to me than my own parents. Sophie's really lucky that she has such a cool mom.
"You never have to apologize to me sweetheart," Dorothea says, and then hugs me and sends me off to Soph's room. I knock and wait for a millisecond before slamming her door open and running up and attacking her with hugs.
"Oh! Blue you're finally here! I thought you might have gotten caught." Soph exclaims in a single breath.
"Soph, calm down.Take a chill pill. We both know that nothing would have stopped me from getting here even if I was a little later than I'd said I'd be." I say calmly and cooly. Sophie has always been like this, always worried about me, yet somehow stays happy. She is really happy and indecisive and I'm the calm and decisive one. We really are opposites, but in reality that only makes us closer. It means that we don't end up somewhere we don't want to be because we were pushovers or because we were too much. I'm also the one that spends the most time in trouble. Soph might be an A student, but I'm a C and D student with a horrible record. Every year I get at least 5 detentions. It's normally for some stupid reason. All the teachers hate me and love Soph. It's kinda annoying, but who cares about some stupid detention anyway. The worst though is when I get Soph into trouble, and trust me it happens, I always feel so sorry because I know she's not a bad kid.
Sophia's Point of View (before Emma arrives)
Oh my god, is Blue okay? I have no Idea if she needs me right now. Should I go find her? Or do I trust her to handle herself? Do I tell my mom I'm worried or not? I really do not know what to do. Blue's been my friend for like ever and I can NOT live without her. I would die if I knew we would never see each other again. My biggest fear in the whole entire world is losing her. I know that probably seems ridiculous, but she's my only friend and everyone else in this town is nothing like her. Blue tells me that she can handle herself, but I just get so worried. I'm too scared to do anything about it though. I am the sporadic one of us who can't get anything done because I have no decision making skills. I'm everywhere and then she's my one central point. If there's one decision I know I definitely made the right choice on, it would be when I choose to be friends with Blue. I gave her that nickname when we first met, because her eyes are such a vibrant blue. I have such boring green eyes though. I'm happy she doesn't call me anything stupid like Greeny or something. The door slams open after a single knock and I get knocked over. What?
"Oh! Blue you're finally here! I thought you might have gotten caught." I exclaim in a single breath.
"Soph, calm down. Take a chill pill. We both know that nothing would have stopped me from getting here even if I was a little later than I'd said I'd be." Blue says calmly and cooly. She's always been the calm and collected one and has always tried to steer me the right way in any situation, even if we do sometimes take a wrong turn. I know that she blames herself, but she shouldn't since I made a choice to act on what she said, she didn't force me.
Emma's Point Of View
I didn't really notice it at first, because of all the yelling and hugging, but Soph changed her room. It now has vibrant yellow walls. The windows that used to have black frames now have white frames with light, open and airy curtains that are grey. There is a new bed also, the backboard is made of a grey fabric and it's much larger. The bedding is also grey and yellow.
"Wow, your room looks good," I tell Soph, "it really matches your personality." That wasn't a lie either, yellow really matches her happiness, and her indecisiveness. Plus, her favorite color is yellow.
"Thanks! It took forever to choose, mom had to help me make a choice between this and a room with a orange theme. I was so worried you wouldn't like it" Soph said.I shake my head, seriously if she did change something and I didn't like it, I should have to deal with it without saying anything. I wouldn't tell her though, it would cause an unnecessary situation and possibly hurt her feelings. She could tell me and I wouldn't care, but to tell her, would crush her, even if she would act like it didn't and try to stay happy.
"Kay, so what do you wanna do now?" Soph asked. Of course I knew exactly what we could do.
"You'll see," I say ominously, " follow me." So we go to her garage where I've been hoarding stuff in the garage apartment forever. Dorothea knew that my home life wasn't the best, but she also knew here was nothing she could do about it, so she gave the apartment to live in when need be. In a closet across from the bedroom I've been keeping lots of toilet paper so that we could t.p. a house.
Soph asked confused, "What are we doing in here?" I laugh creepily like a mad scientist then slam the door to the closet open.
"Really?" Soph says, slightly giggling. I smirk slightly then grab her hand and the t.p. And run out the door. Running down Bell street, passing by Burnable road and coming to a screeching halt on Bath street. She looks at me wide eyed and shakes her head. She knows I want to t.p. my parents, but she doesn't want me to get in trouble.
"It's fine Soph I won't get in trouble," I say. I'm not really sure that's true though. I'll likely get grounded... again. I don't really care though, they'll ground me no matter what I do. So we, after I get Soph to agree, run to my house then t.p. It. They will be so angry when they find out, yet I couldn't care less, not like they'll ever find out I did it. Running back to Soph's we laughed and though Soph didn't say anything and was acting happy, I knew she was nervous. I noticed a small bird watching us, which was quite strange, the birds around here never do that. In fact I've never heard of a bird doing that. So we arrive at Soph's and run inside and since it's nearly midnight we go to sleep.
