1300 years ago, in the Roman Empire, there was a fearless and power hungry military chief, Claudius Markus Frugi. He desired the power to control the whole world. He once told his subordinates that he would do ANYTHING to get that ultimate power. His mind had been corrupted with the thirst and lust for power. He had ordered mob lynching and murder of several commoners because they opposed him and didn't worship him. His ultimate desire was to defeat the gods that guard the gates to heaven and rule over the gods. He wanted to be worshiped by the people. He thought that he is a demigod, a near immortal person who wants to become immortal. He wanted the Mortal humans to worship him.
Claudius respected only one person, The chief of the city of Sparta. He considered him to be a respectable human because of his high morals and because the chief was his mentor.
But the chief of Sparta had always had a poor image of Claudius, he advised every committee against his promotion even if he was doing his work fabulously, because he knew about his lust for power. He knew what could potentially happen if he holds a higher power.
So the chief decided to write a personal letter to Claudius, as a mentor, to persuade him into giving up his wild dreams.
When Claudius read that letter, all hell broke loose. He was furious, he felt threatened and he felt that his position was being taken away. He ordered his men to burn the city of Sparta and to kill everybody who supported the chief, he asked them not to spare even women or children.
'Kill them all!' He said, his eyes red with anger and his face was emitting a scary vibe. He was ready to kill anybody.
By noon, his forces, led by Claudius himself had made its way to the border of Sparta. They were camping there and waiting for nightfall to launch a silent assault on the entire metropolis.
'As soon as people sleep, we'll start burning the houses and killing all the people, then we shall make our way to the chief's residence and assassinate him, I'll assassinate him myself.' Claudius was thinking irrationally and inhumanely, he was thinking as if he was possessed by the devil himself.
At midnight, his forces made spread out across the city. '3,2 and .......1, start the destruction!' He ordered, his forces mercilessly annihilated all the people inside the houses, sleeping peacefully, only to never wake up ever again. Houses were burned down, people were burnt alive. Children were separated from their parents and buried alive deep inside the Earth. Claudius made his way to the chief's residence. The chief was in a state of panic, he was shouting orders at his men. When he saw Claudius, he asked him 'Why, Claudius, why would you do such a thing, you had everything a human could ever wish for, Power, Money, Servants and a lot more.' 'My desires are way above the puny and petty desires of you mortals.' Claudius answered with clenched teeth and with grudge and anger. 'You see the ring that you're wearing, yes that ring, the ring of Sparta, which hosts the gem of Sparta, only one such ring is left, yet I trusted you with that ring, you carry the hopes of entire Sparta with you in the form of that ring. Why, just why will you destroy your own hometown, isn't it the place which has given you everything you ever wanted.' The chief questioned the angry Spartan. Claudius was clearly very angry by now and he was not in the mood of talking.
He reached for the dagger in his coat, but he decided to leave it, he turned away, as if finally realising his mistake, he almost exited the house when he turned, as if he had an Epiphany, he went and dashed the pointed need of the ring which he had been wearing, into the neck of the Chief, killing him, 'Why, Claudius, why?, I curse you and this ring of yours, you shall never attain your goal and never have peace of mind. I curse you, Claudius Markus Frugi, and your Spartan Ring, the bearer of this ring shall never attain whatever that person seeks.....' and with this he closed his eyes.
