"Shawn, where were you during lunch?" Cory asked during Feeny's class as he just came in, almost late too.
The bell rang, "with Turner."
"No you weren't, I just talked to him. He says you were with him for a couple minutes then he told you to go get some lunch and you left annoyed. You never showed up to lunch..."
"Shh, Cor, I'm trying to pay attention now."
"You and I know that you never listen to Feeny, now can we just talk?" He whispered back.
"What?" I was getting irritated already knowing what he was going to want to talk about.
"Where were you?"
"Why do you want to know where I am every 3 seconds? It's like you never leave me alone anymore."
"Because I know you didn't eat lunch and you need to, it's not healthy-"
"Cory, I did eat, just not with you and not in the cafeteria. Now drop it."
"Shawn-"
"Matthews. Hunter. Out in the hallway, now." Mr. Feeny instructed and Cory and I waited out there for a minute before he came out. I'm guessing he probably just gave the class instructions on what to do next. "Now tell me what's going on?"
"Shawn didn't eat lunch." "Cory won't leave me alone." We said at the same time.
"One at a time, boys. I can't understand what's going on with both of you talking at once."
"Shawn didn't eat lunch." Cory blurted out again and I looked at him with anger, what is he doing?
"Is this true, Mr. Hunter?" Mr. Feeny asked concerned.
"No, it's not. Cory won't leave me alone and he keeps accusing things when he doesn't even know the whole story. Just because I wasn't at lunch with you one day doesn't mean that I didn't eat."
"No, Shawn. It's not just one day, okay? This has been going on for months. I haven't seen you eat lunch in so long. Even the other day after school when I went to your house I found out that you didn't eat your breakfast or lunch and I bet you weren't even planning on eating anything that day until I threatened to tell Turner-"
"Actually I was just really tired that day and still sick, so stop acting like you know everything, Cory." I huffed, why is he doing this?
"Shawn, I'm just trying to help and by the way Turner says he wants to talk with you at the end of the day."
"Well, how about you help by staying out? Did you ever just think of that?" I raised my voice, infuriating at how my best friend was betraying me.
Feeny interuppted, "Shawn, how about you go and see Turner now since it's his planning period."
I shook my head, "No, I don't want to. There's nothing to talk about and I'm fine!"
"Shawn, seriously, I think you should go see Turner now."
"And I'm seriously saying that I'm fine and don't need to."
All three of us ended up going back inside the classroom and Cory and I just sat in our desks glaring at each other, while Feeny made a phone call. I bet he's calling Turner now and I couldn't even hear a word he was saying because he made sure to be really quiet about it.
"Shawn, are you mad at me?" Cory asked.
"What do you think?" Of course I am! My best friend just betrayed me!
"I did it for your own good..."
Not even a minute later Feeny walked to my desk and whispered, "Turner wants to talk to you now. You can return to class later. And please listen Mr. Hunter, what he has to say is urgent."
