This is the title track of her third EP. Upon its release on iTunes on the 5th of April 2019, this song became the first one of any K-Pop girl bands to hit number 1 spot on the USA iTunes Chart.
Lisa of the band said in an interview, "It's so great and exciting [to be] back with 'Kill This Love' 9 months after 'Ddu-Du Ddu-Du'. We prepared our best for this album so please look forward to it a lot. The choreography to this is addicting." Jennie added, "I'm happy to be back with a strong and charismatic image in a long time."
The catch phrase "BLACKPINK in your area!" was first used by the band in their debut song "Boombayah" in 2016.
