I quickly slide my phone out from the mess of covers it had been buried in, it was a message from Ryan!

Just some quick backstory. My name is Daisy, I'm 18 and I've been desperately trying to get the hottest guy at my high school to fall in love with me for the past 4 years. Why, you ask? He helped me with my books on the first day back four years ago! I befriended him quickly so I could get closer to him. So I can like what he likes, dislike what he dislikes, be the kind of girl he's looking for etc. In this time, I've met many other girls who were doing the exact same thing, but gave up after a few months. Except for this one girl, no matter how cold Ryan acted towards her, she never left. She's been at this for three years and Ryan's barely given her the time of day. At this point, if he chooses her over me I might just have to punch him. Her name is Roxanne, a real biker type of girl. I will admit that she's stunning! I could never compare, but, me and Ryan's relationship is too strong now for him to ditch me for some hot lady in leather.

I looked at the shabby handwritten note on my desk, hesitantly reaching for it, then promptly deciding it wasn't worth my time. I slide my backpack on and wait outside in the front yard for my prince to stroll past. While I'm waiting for him, my phone goes off again. This time it's from- ugh, Roxanne.
Roxie 💥: hiya girlie, walking down ur street 2day, wanna walk together?
Daisy 🌼: you mean with ry???
Roxie 💥: nah dollface!! just us!!
I hesitated for a moment. I guess if I'm closer with Roxanne it'll be easier to eliminate her. For the past few years we haven't been really close or anything, just casual friends.
Daisy 🌼: alright!! im in!!

Daisy🌼: hey ry, rox wants to walk with me today, so I'll just meet you at the front ?
Ryan 💓: can't I come too? :(
Daisy 🌼: we get to walk together everyday silly! ;P
Ryan 💓: ok,, see u at school then
I hate to say it, but, after chasing someone for four years and dedicating most of your time to them, it does feel great to just have a moment of selfishness. Does this really count as selfishness though? Well, whatever. Its better if I don't smother the guy too much anyways.

Before I could find anything else to waste my time on, Roxanne walks past.
"Oh, hey! The garden looks even better than the last time I was here! Didn't think it was possible buttercup!" She smiled, what's worse is it seemed genuine. Her band tee had holes ripped into it, her black jeans were basically shredded and her steel capped boots had their shoelaces loose. Her fluffy ginger pixie cut bounced as she spoke. Her freckled cheeks crinkled as she smiled brightly at her worst enemy.

"Thanks for noticing!" I chuckled, I don't think I've ever really had any one-on-one time with Roxanne. I'm not sure why, but, suddenly things felt... different. I can't explain it, but I felt something apart from hatred. I can't believe her charms are getting to me! "So how come you're walking this way today?"

"Oh, it's no big deal, I was just dropping my brother off at Ry's this morning and figured some time away from Luna would do my legs some good!" Her motorbike. She chose walking. Over using her motorbike. Her motorbike which she named Luna. It's almost funny!

"So- how come you didn't walk with Ryan instead?" As the words left my mouth in a subtle breeze, she looked somewhat confused, almost frazzled that I'd even ask.
