You step out of your cream-white van, stepping onto the cool, lush grass. You, as a detective, have been in areas like this once before. Sure, you get used to the same old routine at times: get an assignment, move to that area, leave.

But, sometimes, who knows?

You walk down a stone walkway, that, soon enough, leads you to your temporary home. but, as you draw closer, you overhear your neighbors speaking. Murmuring about the "new girl" and the "mafia"

overhearing this, you become quite intrigued. So, you walk over, off the stone path, to introduce yourself...

"hello, you two!" You say, putting on your most welcoming smile

"oh, hi!" A girl says, she was tall, black and grey, with white accents

"I'm microphone"

she must not be so self conscious, due to her introduction, you think to yourself

" you must be the new girl, hmm? Cause, I know everyone in town, and I've never seen you before!"

"yeah, she probably is." Says a shorter woman, with a British accent. She was a mixture of colors, and it makes you hungry for Mexican food.

"Names' taco. You must be void, right?" She continued.

how did she know my name?  You thought, which was quickly interrupted by...

"I'm this town's sheriff. Mic, here, she's my deputy." Taco said, pointing at mic

After hours of much small talk with the locals, after the sun sets, you walk to go home, before mic stops you.

"hey, what're you doing? We gotta go to the trial!"

"...trial?" You say, confused.

"Yeah, trial! Its a thing we in this town do nightly. Follow me." Mic continues, motioning for you to follow her.

... the judge speaks once everyone arrives

"apparently, that morning, soap had been murdered, traces show she was led to the crime scene by a friend. She was killed by two people. Do any of you have an idea of who could've done it..?"

from your time with the others, you learned mic was friends with soap and taco, but you also learned that she did take a liking to anything to clean...

who could it be?

It was Hours since the trial had ended, no one was convicted, thank god. Though, some seemed on edge during the trial. I made a list of the people. I couldn't of gotten everyone, way too many people. heck, maybe none of these people I did list are the actual felon! But, it doesn't hurt to get some evidence, right?

cherries, cheesy, knife, taco, microphone and, lightbulb.

I can understand why taco and mic would be on edge, they had a good chance of getting their bucket kicked! But, why the others? I decided to go to the local pub to see if I could get more info. There, at the counter was a tall glass of orange juice, I don't remember talking with him before, but, he seemed pretty calm. He was cleaning the counter. No one is but us two where there. I'm sure of it.

"Excuse me?" I said, stepping into the local bar.

"Oh, hey. You must be the new girl"

"You'd be mistaken if you said otherwise"

He chuckled at my shallow comment, so far, he seems pretty upbeat.

"I'm Orange juice. Just call me OJ, it's much easier to remember, honestly."

"Nice to finally meet everyone in this town, OJ! I'm void."

OJ laughed again "best not to count your chickens before they hatch." He said, folding up a washcloth

"May I ask what you mean by that?" I said, cocking my head too my left side

"There is way too many people in this town for you to have met in one whole day. Let's say... my boyfriend for an example, Have you met him?" He said right as he tree the cloth in the cabnit "his name is paper, he's kinda unpredictable, but, eh. He's still as lovable." He turned around and leaned on the freshly cleaned counter.

"I don't believe I have met him." I said, sitting on one of the stools

"Pfft, figures. He doesn't go out as much as you'd think. He helps me run this place." OJ then steps back and turns around " HEY PAPER, GET OVER HERE, THE NEWBIE CAME IN"

"HOLD ON A SEC-" a voice said, coming from the stairwell

A few minutes later, a piece of lined paper came down, holding a box, that was covering his face.

"If you must know what I was doing, I was collecting all of our aged liquor for tomorrow's round of attendees-" he puts the box down on the countertop, then looks over at me "oh hello! You must be void! I've heard a lot about you! I'm paper by the way" he said, shaking my hand

"Really now?" I remarked, with a slight hint of sass. Honestly, it was more snarky than sassy.

paper continued, "yeah, mostly from knife, though. He talks about how you seem very observant and cunning. He even joked about you being in the mafia! Which, he must've been joking, cause you just moved here!" He said, laughing

that last part about him laughing at a joke about my target... seemed forced in a way.

best take note of that later.

A bit later, I walk back home to my estate. It may be a good idea to keep my detective work a secret. You never know how many people may lie because of that simple fact.

before you stepped in, you felt a cold breeze fly past you. You decide to shrug it off, and walk home.
