The college semester had just ended. It was my third year complete at MSUD and it went alright. No F's or D's but certainly no A's. Unfortunately,  MSUD didn't offer student housing on campus and moving away from home only made it hard for me to find a place to live. I was currently living in a two bed, one bath apartment 35 minutes away from campus with some guy I barely know. My parents were friends with his parents and figured we could be roommates to save money. He was no trophy. Brandon was his name. Typical hippy, perfect for Colorado. He had the greasy man bun and didn't believe in deodorant. So half the time our apartment smells like onions and vapor rubs, not a good mix. While adding that to the equation my half of rent was $900 dollars a month, not an easy payment when you're also paying for school. So that only meant I had to get a new job. My old job was working for the school at the front desk, I would tell people where to go when lost. Free parking and 7.50 an hour wasn't cutting it. I applied as a server at M N' B restaurant and I started tomorrow which was Friday. Most of MSUD classes were from Monday to Thursday and if you really wanted you could take a class or two on Friday, but not many people did.

The general manager I had interviewed with was a little weird but I have a feeling everything will work out there and hopefully help me a little better financially. I was still going to get paid 7.50 an hour, but I also made tips. I was so close to being done with college, I had one more year left and I wanted to start getting my foot in the door with the career I wanted to pursue. I was studying business managment, and I mainly wanted to focus on restaurants, so hopefully getting my foot in the door now will help me a little down the road with moving up the ladder in the food and beverage industry. It was currently 3 am in the morning, and all these thoughts were running through my head. I've never had an actual job before, and from what I've heard, people leave the restaurant industry quite often because they can't handle the stress. I just wanted to get the first day over with and start working to get a better pay check. As my thoughts fade my mind slows down and I eventually fall asleep.

10:30 am, I click the stop button on my alarm on my phone and huff. Today was the day. I knew I needed to do this not just for financial reasons but for career reasons as well. Yes I know there are things called internships, but I've tried to apply for internships, but they all want previous experience and I have none, so by doing this it can help start. Nothing but a nice warm shower to wake me up and start the day is all I needed.

I hop out and see it's almost 11, my shift started at 11:45. I knew I should have gotten up earlier to eat breakfast, but me being me I decided sleeping was more important. I get dressed in my uniform. The dress code was business casual, my favorite... I huff and I slide on black dress pants and a white sparkly blouse that showed some cleavage, but respectable cleavage, not like I had much to show off any ways. My hair was still damp so I decided to do my make up while my hair finished drying.

I was a make up girl, but at the same time I wasn't, I didn't feel the need to wear a full face of make up everyday, but I also felt like it never hurt to get dolled up here and there. I did nothing crazy but a little coverage on the face and neutral eye shadow and mascara. Highlighter and chapstick never hurt nobody either. My hair was dry for the most part and I knew I had to have it up, so I braided the fringe and made a messy bun on the side of my head and pulled out some side hair. Unlike Brandon I did wear deodorants and perfume. I was finished getting ready and I grab my keys and leave.

I pull up and see a few cars in the parking lot assuming it was a manager or two and a few other employees. I get out, lock my car and head inside. I ring the bell in the back and some older lady with a hair net opens the door with a toothy smile.

"Hi, I'm Elena, I'm looking for Nicole?" I say looking around like I knew who I'm looking for. There was so much going on, people walking back and forth, dishing clinking and chit chat all around. The nice lady points left and I follow the direction towards a door. I go to knock but hear two voices.

"I was never told I was training this morning." Say a female voice in a bit of irritation.

"I know Sam, I'm sorry but we need more servers and I promise she won't be hard to train, she seems like a nice girl with her head on straight." Says another voice.

"That's fine but you know I hate training because any time you train someone you lose money because they either slow you down or you have to fix their mistakes." Say who I'm assuming is Sam.

"Sam please, you can have a free meal, this is the only server I'm having you train for this whole month and I swear I'll let you know the next time." A sigh comes out.

The door flys open and I step back before I get hit. I grab the door and watch a bigger lady storm off which most likely is Sam and a smaller dark haired lady sitting in an office chair who might be Nicole.

"Elena?" She questions.

"Yeah." I awkwardly say.

"Nicole, nice to meet you." She smiles.

"You as well." I smile shaking her hand.

"So that was Sam." She lightly laughs. "She's an amazing server and is going to teach you a lot, here is your apron, name tag, and server book." She says handing me all this stuff. As she does that she pushes me out the door and I bump into a heavy body and drop everything.

"I am so sorry." I say bending down picking up everything. I stand up looking up at who I bumped into.

"Hi I'm Daniel." Smiles a tall, skinny, dark haired boy with a small gap between his teeth.
