I walked right past Ashyln who was talking to no one. Unlike most I actually knew she existed. It was last year that she had caught me crying on October 10th... I shivered my walls of self confidence collapsing for a momment as I thought of the dreadful night that had scared me ten years ago. I quickly rebuilt my ego and continued to the dungons. I wouldn't let Potter or his gang have the satisfaction of seeing me in my weak momments.
I was early, as usual. I put a subtle smirk on my face as I saw Black, one of Potter's buddies, walk in ten minutes late. I chuckled lightly under my breath causing me to recive a small glare from Potter which I returned with the same intesity. I was not one to back away from a competition and was pleased with myself when Potter looked away.
I continued my potion's but then noticed something odd. Potter never, ever backed down from a contest. I stole a glance over at him and caught him, Black, and Lupin staring at Ashlyn, What did they want with her? I laughed as she waved. I turned away to my potion happy because it was half decent.
Our potions teacher, Professor Slugghorn, surveyed everyone's potions. "Good job, Serverus, ten points to Slytherin. Mr. Amos Diggory, work upon the cutting of the wormroot. Not taking any points from Hufflepuff unless your potion explodes." I held my breath waiting for the boom that would cause us to lose precious points. He walked around the room and I thought about what an odd idea it was to place all houses in one class. As anyone could tell it wasn't a pleasnt expreince. "Ah, Mr. Lupin, I still don't know why you signed up for advanced potions, you seem to take no enjoyment in it, and to be quite honest your not very good at it. Oho, but look here! Ms. Cooper, as usual, the best in class. Though I rarley call you out upon it, forgive me. Twenty points to Ravenclaw."
I gave a smile in her direction as many murmmered trying to figure out who 'Ms. Copper' was. I used to be among them untill last year. I poured my potion into a flask and handed it in. I didn't notice that I had left my favorite fairy tale as a chilid, Alice in Wonderland, at my desk. As I walked out I noticed Ashylyn waiting at the door. I didn't aknowledge her because we weren't exactly friends. I walked past her to my respective common room.
I was walking and bumped shoulders with Potter strutting down the halls with his groupies acting like they owned the place. "Whats up, Potter? Taking your girlfriends out to a chcik flick?" I asked smirking. He glared at me but then continued on. What was with Potter today? This was so unlike him. I shrugged it off then continued on.
I reached into my bag feeling for the familar worn hard cover book fillind with an insane world in which I could escape. It wasn't there though. I rembered I had left it in potions class and continued there. As I heard the snipets of a conversation I stopped hiding behind a corner, Was that the Muradures, and Ashlyn? The conversation stopped and Ashlyn walked past me. I shrugged off the werid feeling I had in my stomach and walked to potions to retrive my lost fairy tale.
