JACKSON'S P.O.V.
"What do you mean she was kidnapped?"
"I mean, she was kidnapped."
"But you didn't do anything! What happened to calling the police?!" I was seething. What kind of person doesn't call the police when they witness a kidnapping? By now, I had introduced myself and he had done the same. He had told me the story and managed to piss me off more each second he spoke.
"They threatened me! What would you do if you had been me?"
"Probably called the police," I said in a sarcastically obvious way.
"I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with you. You most likely would have done the same as me. No one wants to die."
"Did they say that they would kill you if you told?"
"No," he said quietly.
"That's what I thought."
"They probably would've though," he added in an attempt to back up his idea. I rolled my eyes.
"Yeah, because they also want to be wanted for murder."
"They—" he sighed. "You're right, I should've called the police. I'll do it now." He picked up the phone and dialed 911.
"Do you want me to put this on speaker?" he asked. I nodded.
"Hello? A woman's voice answered.
"Yes, I would like to report a kidnapping and a robbery." He told her what happened.
"Do you have any information on where they were headed or what their car looked like?" She asked.
"Well, they looked like they were heading north and they were driving an old Toyota. It was silver with a small, very thin stripe on the side."
"Uh-huh," she paused to write something down. "Anything else?"
"No, sorry."
"Thank you sir, we'll get right on the case. Goodbye." She hung up.
"There," he said, "you happy?" I nodded.
"Thanks."
"You best be headed on home now, Jackson. It's late."
"You too."
"Best of luck in finding your friend."
"How do you know I'm gonna look for her?"
"Just a hunch," he smiled. "It's late, you parents are probably worried sick 'bout you."
"I wouldn't count on that," I thought.
"Yeah. Thanks for the help Charles," I said.
"No problem, anything for a friend." I smiled slightly.
"See you around?" He nodded as I walked out the door.
I hopped in my car and drove home, more anxious then I was before I reached the gas station. When I made it home, my parents were asleep, my dad lying on the couch. I quietly walked upstairs and changed. I sat down at my desk and opened my laptop. I clicked my browser and searched for anything that could be a clue that would lead to Emily's location. I found none. Just a few warehouses that were still being used. If they weren't, then there was a possibility that that's where Emily was located. I paced the room, trying to think of possible places she could be. As I was pacing, my mom came in.
"Jackson! Why aren't you in bed! It's 2:00 in the morning!" Was it? I looked at the clock. 1:57. I had been pacing and searching the internet for almost 4 hours.
"Sorry, I didn't realize what time it was."
"You better not be lying to me Jackson Cody (yes, my middle name is Cody, don't judge) Moore," she stalked out of the room. Normally she would have yelled at me longer, but, luckily, she was too tired to say much. I then proceeded to fall very un-gracefully on my bed and sleep.
____________
She hung up. The man had done it. She had hoped it wouldn't come to this, she always dreaded it. At least it would only be a warning this time, but if he stayed involved... she didn't even want to think about it. She took a shaky breath and dialed the number.
"Hello?" a gruff voice answered.
"He did it," she said it quickly. It was done. The man on the other end said nothing, for there was nothing to be said. She hung up and sat back in her chair. It squeaked. She was gonna have to get the deputy to fix that. He didn't do much actual police work. He mostly fixed door hinges, watered the lawn, and added fresh paint to the sign which read, "POLICE DEPARTMENT" out front. Although there wasn't really a police force in this small town, she liked the way it sounded. She was the one Charles had told about the kidnapping. She prayed that he get get away before it happened, although one rarely escaped it. Her name was Silica and she was one of them.
