A Mix Of Things

Haru x OC (Free!)

I had gone to every practice. Practiced with each of them. Haru, Rei, Mako, Nagisa, there was never a dull moment. Right now, we're at the regionals. Haru is up next for the free style. He has a few minutes to practice.
      "Hey Lin! Haru seems to be going slower than usual, wonder why." Nagisa said looking over to me. His pink eyes met my orange ones.
      "Do you think something happened?" I said.
       "I'll go check," Mako said walking over to the water. He kneeled down next to a slightly panting Haru. "Hey you okay? Your swimming slower then usual."
     "I don't know what your talking about. I'm fine" Mako extended his hand, Haru grabbed it and got out of the pool. When he put his right foot on the ground he winced in pain and stumbled a little.
      "Haru! Are you okay?" Mako said putting his arm around him.
       Haru tried to pry Mako off. "Shut up, I'm fine!"
       Mako shook his head. Despite Haru's protests he sat down on the bench next to me. Rei kneeled down to check out Haru's ankle.
     "It's sprained. He can't compete." Rei said simply.
      "I'm still competing." Haru said looking at his foot.
      "It isn't safe." Mako said looking down. "Lin, your going to have to take his place."
      "W-what? Me?" I started. "But I'm just replacement boy. Plus I'm much better at backstroke. And I-"
        "Lin, you have to." Rei said. Mako nodded in agreement.
        "Please Lin?" Nagisa said looking at me with his big pink eyes.
         'I'm sorry Haru.' I thought to myself. 'I know how much you wanted this... but right now your health is more important.' "I-I'll do it. But I might not do very well because I do better with backstroke but I'll try." I turned to Haru and gave him the look telling him I'm sorry.
         "Hey Lin?" Haru said.
         "Yes Haru?"
         "Be one with the water. Feel it for me okay?"
         I smiled. "Okay, I will." I turned around and took one step before feeling someone grabbing my wrist. I turned back around only to be pulled onto Haru. He looked me in the eyes for a second then kissed me. My eyes went wide before gently closing them. After about thirty seconds he pulled away.
       "Win for me. And that was your good luck." He looked at me with determined eyes.
        "'K. And Haru? I-"
         "All swimmers to their blocks for the 50 meter free style race." The announcer said through the speaker.
      "Go win." Was all Haru said. The four boys were cheering for me. I looked Haru in the eyes. His blue orbs showing emotion. I smiled and walked over to my block. I was third. On my left was someone I didn't know. But on my right I saw Haru's rival, Rin Matsuoka. I've only heard a little bit about him. Apparently he has only beat Haru once. I've never beaten Haru in a free style race so I'm pretty nervous.
      The first whistle blew. Then the second. Finally the horn went off. I jumped off the platform gracefully before kicking through the water. 'Haru said be one with the water.' I hit the wall and kicked backwards. Then, I suddenly heard nothing. Everything was quiet. It was just me swimming. 'This must've been what Haru meant by be one with the water.'
      My hand hit the wall. I put my head above the water and took a deep breath. There was cheering from Nagisa, Rei, Mako, and even Haru was cheering. I got out and walked over to them. I sat next to Haru and Mako. I looked over at the scoreboard. I made it just a few milliseconds before Rin. I was then put into a bone crushing hug from Nagisa.
       "N-Nagisa" I said between breaths.
     Nagisa let go and smiled. "Sorry Lin."
    "Great job Lin! You came in first!" Mako said handing me a towel.
    I dried my hair. "Thanks." I said smiling.
     "Well Lin, you didn't only beat Rin, you beat me as well." Haru said looking up.
     "How'd you do it Lin?" Rei said. "None of my calculations match the burst of speed you had at the end."
      "I became one with the water." I stated simply.
        "Oh no! Don't become like Haru-chan!" Nagisa exclaimed.
          We all laughed. "Hey what's that supposed to mean? And dont call me Haru-Chan." Haru said cluelessly. 
        "It means your bathtub is not a pool. Even I know that." Nagisa said.
       "It's not that bad!" Haru said.
      "Okay you two calm down." Mako said.
      I laughed. "Hey Haru?"
       "Yeah Lin?" He said looking up.
      "Thanks for your encouragement. It worked well."
       "What encouragement? Why weren't we aware of this?" Rei stated.
        Haru looked at Rei. "I kissed him."
        "You did what?!" Rei, Nagisa, and Mako said in sync.
           "And he liked it." Haru said smirking.
          "I did not!" I said a little loudly.
            "Then come here and I'll do it again."
           I stood my ground. I did not want to be proven wrong. After a minute Haru stood up and half walked half fell on me. Then, he kissed me again. His lips were soft. Mine were probably chapped. But I will admit, he isn't a bad kisser.
          Nagisa was 'awwing' in the background while Mako was taking pictures on his phone. Rei was mumbling to himself about how insane and gay we were being. But to be honest, I couldn't care less. After a minute or two we broke apart. My arms still holding him up at the waist. His arms around my shoulders. The towel on my head fell off onto his arms. We stared at each other for another minute before realizing what we were doing. His face turned a bright pink while mine was a crimson. I helped him sit back down on the bench then sat next to him. My arm around him.
          "Lin?" Haru said.
          "Yes Haru?" I said looking at him.
         "Thank you. I know you aren't as strong in free style as you are in backstroke but thanks for going out of your comfort zone for me. I feel so stupid. If only I didn't sprain my stupid ankle. Things would have been so much better and-"
            "Haru!" He jumped a little at my sudden outburst. "If you hadn't sprained your ankle I wouldn't have competed. If you hadn't messed up your jump you wouldn't have been showing emoting. For goodness sake! If you hadn't sprained your ankle I wouldn't have realized I love you!" I quickly covered my mouth. "I-I'm so sorry Haru I didn't mean it like that I just-"
          "No Lin, your right. You have no reason to be sorry. I'm very proud of you." He rested his head on my shoulder. "Want to come to my house for dinner? You too Nagisa, Mako, Rei."
       "Ohhh what is it?" Nagisa asked.
        "Mackerel" Haru said looking at the pool.
          "Ugh!" Everyone exclaimed.
           "Hey Nagisa, you better hurry. Your up next." I said smiling at him.
           "K!" He said. "Hey Rei? Do I get a good luck-"
       "No!" Rei said.
          Everyone laughed at his comment/rejection.

So here's a little bit of a longer one! I have to leave for school soon but thought I'd make a quick update! Also this ends the ones I had to copy and paste from my notes! I have I think two or three more written so I'll get those up soon! If your not following my instagram you should! I talk about my stories and ideas sometimes!
