while arranging the files on my desk, a sudden knock was heard on the other side of my door.

i stood up and opened to see one of the volunteers.

“miss y/n, the director called you.” she politely said.

“she’s here?” i gasped and quickly, i walked to the mini lobby to see the director.

i bowed and smiled.

“you look prettier, miss y/n.” she complimented as we both sat.

“same to you mrs. cha, you look young as ever.” i said to the old woman.

“how’s the kids?” she sipped on the tea.

“they’re good. i check up on them every time and they seem to enjoy each other’s company.” i smiled.

“i’m so happy i launched this business. this is not business for me anymore, i feel so good helping kids.” she said.

“kids should play, not be in the hospital all day.” i put my head down.

“ah, miss y/n.” i looked at her  “the doctor that used to go here every week to check up on kids resigned.”

“what? why? did something happened?” i asked worriedly.

“she’s pregnant so she wanted to take a break.” she said but frowned, “she don’t know if she’ll come back.”

“who’ll check up on kids now?” i asked.

“she referred me to this one doctor who wants to work with us. he’ll be here everyday to make sure that the kids are okay.” she said, smiling at me, “i’m sure he’s on his way here.”

“that’s great news.” i smiled.

the director soon left since she’s busy so i have to wait here in the lobby until the doctor comes.

i waited for a few minutes and then the door opened.

i looked up to be stunned, can’t move my feet.

why him?

“y/n?” he smiled at me.

“seokjin? what are you doing here?” i approached him.

he looked around, “i’m here to work as a doctor, how about you? is your kid here?”

“n-no.” i stopped for a moment, “i work here.”

“really?” he looked at my name tag, “wow, you’re the manager?”

i nodded and smiled.

he look so good, so handsome. he look younger.

“it’s been so long.” i chuckled.

maybe almost 5 years? 5 years since i last saw my ‘best friend’.

“how have you been?” he said as we sat on the lobby’s sofa.

“good, how about you?” i asked and poured him some tea.

“i’ve been well especially i was offered to work here, to serve children.” he laughed.

“how’s hyeri?” i asked.

he suddenly cleared his throat and looked away.

“she’s good but sometimes we fight, married life.” he chuckled, “why did you suddenly disappeared though? hyeri couldn’t reach you few years ago.”
