A Turn for the Worst

As I started the Humvee up I looked into the back, seeing Matthews looking down and possibly even much worse than before. I sent him a look, hoping he would see it but I quickly found it was a lost cause. He simply continued to look down, his dark brown, almost black hair, in his face, lightly grazing his shoulders. An odd occurrence as he normally had it in a bun. I sighed quietly. Somehow not quite enough as Edwins reached over to my shoulder patting it, in a comforting way. I simply gave him a look saying that I could tell him later. As he nodded in response I looked straight, the dirt road ahead nearly making me sick for as long as we had been driving. What felt like 3 hours.
"I'm pulling over guys, this road is making me sick and it's about 1 in the morning anyways." As i got an okay in response from Edwins I pulled the car over. Wasting no time to do the now nightly routine of covering the huge hunk of metal.
After doing so I quickly went to Edwin. Wanting to explain to him why I was acting the way I had, as I really just wanted to go and sleep.
"Hey Edwins, I apologize for acting the way I had. It wasn't right." He looked at me, equally looking as tired as I felt,
"Ah it's fine don't worry just go sleep big guy". I nodded at him and quickly walked over towards the humvee. I told them I planned on sleeping in here tonight. Right now the seats were a lot fucking more comfortable then a sleeping bag and the cold ass floor. As I climbed in I shut the door behind me. Allowing my eyes to close, I drifted off. As a scream echoed throughout the woods we were in, I shoved myself out of the humvee. Stumbling over myself I quickly searched for Edwins and Matthews, noticing Matthew practically launching himself off the ground arming himself with his gun, I scanned the area further hoping to see Edwins but as another scream echoed out, I realized he was missing.

"MATTHEWS IT'S EDWINS"  My harsh yelling broke through.
We started running, the only thing telling us where he is was the spine-chilling noise of his yells. It was what hurt most. Not the twigs and bushes pricking every part of my body. I had managed to get close to Edwins over my past years in the army. Granted everyone is family in the army, but I had a really special bond with him. We had a rough start but we slowly became attached and I wasn't going to lose that today.

As me and Matthews kept running the sound of his screams becoming more and more clear. Nearly tearing me apart. But the sound pushed me forward, I was desperate. Finally we rushed out into a clearing. With both me and Matthews shouting Edwins name. I looked frantically around me. Not realizing my vision was blurring slightly because of tears.
