Marcy woke up with a headache. She had been living half her life in a hospital. Though in the year 3000,it wasn't uncommon. Everyone lived in an office or hospital. Even farmers grew crops in scientific labs.
Things had been simpler when she wasn't married. That dated back to her twenties. The years she she spent as a travel journalist. Everyday she used to be surrounded by different arts and cultures. So many adventures. So many stories. Today the world was a different place. A different story.
Ronald barged into her cubicle, almost anxiously. He had been a scientist, all his life.
"I've found an antidote to your illness",he said.
Marcy shifted her glare to the window. The sun hadn't risen this week. It indeed was approaching the end..
"After you are cured, would you consider coming back?", the 109 year old Ronald asked her. He wasn't old..its just that life expectancy had increased to about 500 years.
"It's been 10 years. Why do you still try so hard?
Marcy asked in a steely cold voice.
" Because we were married. We have kids of our own.", he answered.
"So..this is for the kids,uh?"
Ronald stared at her. 110, she still had no wrinkles. She was a living miracle.
"You look younger than me",
He said with a smile.
"That's why you want me back?
"I just..want you to know whatever is missing, I'll get it back. All you've gotta do is say the word."
Marcy looked at him for a while.
"I just want to relive the past. But it's all over now,Ron. You may have all these goals, I just wanna die."
After a prolonged minute of silence , Ronald went towards her and carried into his arms.
"What on earth is..",Marcy sweared. Ronald pressed a button on his watch and then the layers of time began to unfurl.
