You're at home and you've taken over one of the kitchen areas in your house. You had Mori's truffle special was chilling in the fridge, however you were still trying to figure out something super special for the Strawberry Prince you visited today. You can't think about him without your heart fluttering. It was really inconvenient for work, but you liked the feeling of being light on your feet and always smiling. You were chilling on your phone for an idea on what you can do with strawberries to make Honey happy when your dad walked in the kitchen and saw you. He just casually leaned against the doorframe, starting a conversation with his beautiful daughter.
"What are we baking today? Something for work or something for or leisure?"
You lift your head from your endless searching to see him smiling warmly, his arms folded over his chest. He had always been a good father. You love him very much. Even if this doesn't match your real life situation, Reader, the least I can do in this fanfiction is give you a loving family so you can feel happy with yourself. After all, this is all just a story. This is all just a role where you can imagine yourself as the main character. That's what an xreader fanfic is all about: making the reader happy. You smiled at him, answering his question then adding one of your own.
"Stuff for two upperclassmen I happen to have a contract with. Host Club. I thought I could give them something special since they've done me a favor, it's only fair. I got one down since he likes bitter treats. Truffles in the fridge. I just don't know what to make for Honey."
A spark of recognition flared in his eyes. You talk about the Haninozuka all the time, with them being your family's major client and you had taken charge of the catering of them. You know, with making sure they get enough and having it transported to the Haninozuka mannor and all that. You turn back to your phone, focused on the task, when your father decided to enter the kitchen to help you. Before going to you he walks to the fridge to check in your truffles. Looking beautiful. He then walked next to you and noticed your search title. He chuckled to himself.
"Why don't you do a strawberry turnover? A simple pastry? I'm sure the Haninozuka kid would love it. The older one. The younger one hates sweets."
You almost forgot Honey has a brother. Huh. Yeah he always glares you down every time you supply Honey with more sweets. He doesn't really matter at the moment. A strawberry turnover, huh? Last time you tried to make a turnover it turned into s weird sort of triangle danish because the top layer of pastry completely flaked off and failed to carmelize in the oven. It's been a while since you've tried to make turnovers again. However you're willing to try if it was for Honey. You grinned at Dad, who seemed very causual yet proud of the idea.
"Yeah, sounds awesome! You're the best Dad!"
Your dad beamed proudly and walked over to you. He ruffled your hair and replied with a quick "I know. I married your mother and had you, right?" Before leaving. A good family is a blessing rarely found in literature nowadays. People in real life need to learn how to make good families. Toxic relationships and people are everywhere. Shaking off the morbidity of reality, you found yourself googling simple recipes for turnover pastries to make sure you get it done right. Then you can modify it to make it your own after thinking about it and doing a trial test. While scrolling through the internet and preheating your oven, you get a text from an unknown number.
???: (surname). This was the number for your cell on your business card. Do I have the right number?
Mori? Huh. You couldn't help but wonder what he wanted. You stood up from crouching down to get a pan from the cupboard and stared at the message, rereading the kanjis over again to yourself. He spelled your last name wrong but it's no big deal. You set the pan down on the countertop next to the stovetop attached to the oven you were using. You completely forgot about the recipie you were grazing through and responded to his message.
You: Yes, Senpai, it's me. (Name) (Lastname). Is there something you needed or didn't you just want to verify I didn't give you a fake number?
You set the phone down while standing on the countertops to reach the highest cabinets to get a few special ingredients. Your Mom loves to snatch some of the berries and flavorings and chocolate chips, stuff like that, at midnight for a snack so you and your Dad had to agree to keep it way above her reach. You get down some of that good strawberry gooey filling stuff that's in your family's brand and some vanilla extract importer from Cozumel Mexico. You never know when vanilla comes in handy! Besides, it's the good Mexican stuff! You can't beat the Mexican stuff! When you got down you picked up your phone. The unknown-not-unknown messenger replied
???: Mitsukuni had been bugging me to text you.
Ah, so it was Honey. Why did your heart give a few extra dokis for it? It's almost as if Sayori was reading over your shoulder, smiling and happy like in Act One. Before the MoNiKa PrObLeM. You decided to give Mori a contact in your phone before the triple question marks and the unknown number annoys you. You set his picture as a little cartoon bear that's very monotone, since you don't have a picture of him. Once that was set you had to figure out how you're going to respond. You shrugged and let your thumbs speak for themselves.
You: Well... I am baking special treats for the two of you tomorrow. I would have assumed you like dark chocolate, so your surprise is chilling in the cold box. I just preheated the oven to start Honey-Senpai's surprise. I really hope they turn out well and you like them!
Sure, you may have revealed too much, but it's no big deal. You have speedy thumbs so you got the message out in no time. While waiting for a reply, you flip back to recipie sandwich began making the dough needed for the turnovers. You rinsed your hands of the ingredients and noticed that Mori left a very small, sarcastic reply. Go figure.
Mori: Did you just call your refrigerator a "cold box"?
You snickered at yourself. Wow, you did not realize you did something ad dorky as that. But if you think about it, a fridge is a cold box. It's a glorified cold box that keeps cold in and people put food in. You aren't wrong and you will fight someone on this. You should probably get to work before you forget about the turnovers and just spend the entire afternoon talking with Mori.
You: Whatever. I should go. I have to get baking if I want to make something worthy of you two.
You closed out of the messaging and focused entirely on the recipies. You did notice Mori sent a reply of a single letter. K. That's all you need. You worked on getting the treats in the oven and once they were in, you found yourself sweating. You smiled and set the timer for the oven. These are going to turn out so good! That's when your Mom walked into the kitchen, rubbing her eyes like she's tired. You glanced at the clock. It's only seven oh seven. It's only out Lord and Savior, god of Honey Buddha Chips and Doctor Pepper. God Seven Zero Seven.
"Mom, what's going on?"
She simply made herself a cup of coffee and left without saying a word. She's been busy. She's been dealing with exports and paperwork this entire week. What's more is that there's a strike on the importing economy of America, one of our greatest exporting countries for business, so she's trying to make up for those sales and find ways to balance the income so we can pay everyone like they're supposed to. You're a fair family. When there's shortages, you guys take that end of the stick. You sent her a ,entail blessing before resting your eyes, grinning. Your heart was still fluttering, thinking about Honey.
It's nice to have a crush, isn't it?
