As Jake continues driving down the highway, The Gas light comes on and dings for a bit and wakes a sleeping Shane. "Oh, good morning your sleepiness" Jake says. "The gas light just came on, and we're no where near a useable exit towards a gas station." "great. Looks like we'll have to make a stop. Siphon some gas out for this Ugga Dugga... Maybe there will be some diesel in one of these things. And hopefully we won't come across any more of those... Walkers." Shane exclaims. Just hearing that term sends a cold chill down Jake's spine. As Jake pulls to a stop, and shuts the clunker down, They both can already hear Walkers. And a whole hell of a lot of them from the sounds of it."Alright, kid, let's do this." Shane says, as he struggles with opening the broken door handle. "Here, you old geezer, use this. Lol" Jake says as he hands him a screwdriver to open the door with. As they wander around all of the broken cars, they see nothing but blood, broken clunkers and bloody, rotten, groaning corpses.
"Oh shit!" Exclaims Shane, in the midst of siphoning gas. "We got a SERIOUS PROBLEM!" Suddenly, Jake hears it too. All of the corpses are eyes on them. Like a lion to an unsuspecting zebra. "Let's get the hell outta here!" Shane says, running back to the clunker.
"Hold on! I've almost got it! Just one more pint and I've filled the can, Dad!" Exclaimed Jake. When suddenly, a Walker takes Jake by surprise. "ScrAaAaAaA!!!!" It screams as it gurgles up blood in the process. It takes a bite. Right at Jake. Bit. Right in the arm. Jake quickly stabs the walker, and winces in pain. He quickly hides the bite and chunk of skin missing from his arm, and runs back toward the clunker. "Shit! We're surrounded!" Shane says. "Dad? Dad! Hold on!" Jake says. Jake goes up to the horde surrounding them, and tries to fend them off. Long enough for Shane to get the gas in the clunker. "Done! C'mon! We gotta go! Now!" Shane yells at Jake. Jake doesn't listen. He's stuck in his head. All he can think about is how it was these... Things, that killed his mom. That took his mom away. "C'MON! LETS GO YOU SONS-A-BITCHES!" screams Jake in a fit of rage. Shink! Scrrrritch. Shink! Scrrrritch. Shink! The Screwdriver gets stuck. Out of options. Out of time, Jake runs quickly back to the clunker. As fast as he can. He winces in pain as a sudden pulse of pain shoots up his arm. "Agh!" Jake's breath quivers. He hops in the truck and quickly turns the key. It turns over, but it refuses to start. Brrrrrraaaadadadadadadadada!!! It shrieks. "C'mon, c'mon!" Shane & Jake say in motion. Then they hear a loud, SLAP! "It's the walkers!" Shane shrieks. Finally, the Clunker eases to life. v-v-v-VRRRROOOM!!! Jake doesn't give it a second thought. He slams the clutch, puts it into gear, and Drives. Like a bat outta hell.
~little later~
Shane is driving, down the old country roads of Utah. It's nighttime now. More activity with the walkers. "Hey, Kid... Are... You... You awake? Do you wanna talk?" Shane asks. Jake awakens sleepily, and manages a meek "sure." "Kid... I don't know what you think you're doing. But pulling another stunt like that, it's not going to work. It won't help you. I get it. You miss your mom. Believe me, I do too. I miss those sweet smiles of hers. They'd always brighten my day. Those blue-gray eyes... So innocent, and Beautiful. *Ahem* uh.... Anyways. I get it kid. But, -and I'm sorry to say it like this- we gotta move on. Left Right left. Maybe right left wrong. Just gotta keep moving on. Keep climbing that mountain. Okay? *Sigh* I can't afford to lose you, either." Shane says.
Jake is now wide awake. He slowly uncovers his arm. "Dad... Dad. Can... Can you pull over for a second?" Shane pulls the clunker over, pulls out of gear, puts in the E-brake, then looks at Jake. "Whats up, kidd-....... Oh. Oh god. Oh no. Nonononono." Jake is pale now, and he feels sick to his stomach. Shane is just in pure shock. Sobbing. "Kid. Dammit! Kid, why'd you go and do this?! I can't fuckin' deal with losing you & her!!!!" Shane says between breath, and sobs. "M-Maybe it's just like a sickness, maybe you'll get better. You have to. You will! I know you will." Says Shane. Jake takes a quick breath. And says "Dad... It's already been almost 5 or 6 hours. I don't think it's gonna *cough* be better.
