"Ok, so we have a new case." He started in his professional tone. The one Pixie recognized as' it is time to get serious'. "Do you remember the Vampire killer case." He waited for her nod, then continued. "We have been hired by the Sanderson family, to see if we could find something the police missed that might be able to bring more information to light, or bring the murderer to justice." He continued to fill her in with what he knew up to this point, Pixie nodding along.
Pixie sat quietly contemplating everything Aaron had just told her. Aaron watched out of the corner of his eye as her brow furrowed. He realized something was eluding her thought process.
" What's on your mind?" He asked, drawing Pixie from her thoughts.
She turned to him, a concentrating look across her face. "Ok I understand the accounting stuff, but I can't figure out the black credit card." She replied to his inquiry. Her mind was still puzzling out the answer to her own question.
"As you know, we are going to bill them for expenses and hours for this case. That billing will go to the accountants, which in turn will be paid to us. " Aaron stated, then continued. "The credit card will allow us to purchase items and information that our clients would not want connected to them, or going across the accountants desk. The card will also allow us to be able to access a different level of society, and exclusive places."
Pixie squinted at him acquisitively "What do you know of the higher levels of society and exclusive places? "
"More than I care to admit, I have worked for enough of the upper crust that I have seen a very dark side of it . It is an experience I wish I could forget." Aaron responded quietly, his voice taking on a dark tone. "Remember you were talking about Pandora's Box? Well once one sees the other side, one can never close the box."
Pixie felt a shiver involuntarily run up her spine. She had never heard that exact emotion in Aaron's voice, ever. She could not even name it, it was just...... she didn't know, but it made her very uncomfortable. What ever happened must have left a scar. Just the look that crossed over Aaron's face made her nervous. Shaking her head to drive away the unwanted thoughts, "OK, so what is our next move?" Pixie asked in her usual tone.
