Aaron came awake with a start as he felt something cold and wet touch his ear. He heard a giggle from Pixie as she easily dodged the swipe directed at her. He opened his eyes and looked over in time to get a spray of water to the face. A smell of fresh coffee filled the air inside the cab.
"How long was I out and where the hell did you get a squirt gun?" Aaron asked as he wiped the water off his face. He watched as the small squirt gun disappeared into her coat of many pockets.
Pixie pretended to think, exaggerating it by rubbing her chin. " Let's see, enough time for me to get gas for the Beast, buy a squirt gun and bottle of cold water from said gas station and go through a drive through for coffee. You must really be tired, or just getting old"
"I am not old, I am only twenty seven" He grumped, undoing his seatbelt, and opening the door
" OMG, twenty seven!" She exclaimed mockingly, trying very hard not to giggle. "I should help you out of the truck so you don't break a hip"
Aaron turned to her, trying hard not to laugh, flipped her off then hopped out of the truck. He heard the other door slam shut, and he closed his. Pixie opened the back door, slid off her coat and withdrew a black leather jacket that fit her like a glove.
Aaron looked at her as she walked around the front of the truck and tossed him the keys,
"Good job by the way" He complimented her as they started toward the house.
"Thanks, just don't look at the back bumper." She replied sweetly.
Aaron stopped midstride "Why?"
"It's nothing" she said quickly and continued walking
He walked slowly back to the back end of the truck, expecting either damage or something hanging of the trailer hitch to give it "Balls". He checked the whole bumper and found nothing.
When he looked back at Pixie he thought her face was going to explode with the size of her grin. "I told you it was nothing, and not to look" She said through her giggles "Karma's a bitch and so am I"
Aaron just shook his head, and caught up to her. That was one reason he liked her so much, she could always make him laugh. "When did you buy that jacket?" he asked
"I technically I didn't buy it" she stated kind of avoiding the question
"So did you steal it? " Aaron asked trying to understand what the technicality was. Then he understood.
" You bought it for me." they said in unison, meeting each others glance.
" Jinx, you owe me a beer" Pixie fired before giggling again
"Well, it seems I bought you a jacket, so we can call it even" He said chuckling "And we will discuss this later.
Looking at the enormous house in front of him sobered him up quickly. The laughing died quickly as the reason for their drive out here became very apparent. They were here to talk to the parents of the girl he had failed to find before it was too late.
They walked up to the front door, but before they could ring the bell the door opened and a large man stood there and glared at Aaron before asking, " What do you want?" This was obviously Linda's father. He looked like he had been bigger then most people all his life, and knew how to make other people feel intimidated. Aaron was about his same size and definitely not intimidated
" I was the private Investigator your wife hired to find your daughter...." Aaron started to explain
"You did a piss poor job of that didn't you" The father sneered, cutting Aaron off. "I hope we didn't over pay you"
