Arin was now all fixed and ready to go. But something was missing. "He needs a code name," Rook says. "Yea, 'Mask' would be too obvious," I say. "How about Omega? It goes well with Ultra's name." Finka says. "That does work," I say. We all decide on that name for him. "Hey, Arin! We thought of a code name for you!" I yell. "What'd you come up with?" He says. "Omega," I say. "I like it!" He says. Now, the MDU (Mask Defense Unit) of Rainbow has been completed. "So, any intel you can give us?" I ask. "The way they take and 'recruit' people is horrendous. They take them off the streets, out a mask on them, and make them inhale a gas that turns them into one of them." He says. "I was able to break out because my mask cracked, releasing the gas that held me captive." "Wait, with Arin here, we can create replicas of his mask, and create situations based on what the Masks might and have done!" Mozzie says. "Exactly!" I exclaim. A way to fight the Masks without actually fighting the Masks! I'm down for it.
Twitch, Mozzie, Dokkaebi, and I start working on the "situations", as we're calling them. Six walks. "What are you four doing?" She asks. "We're creating replicas of the Masks and putting them in 'situations' against Operators so we can fight the masks without actually fighting them," I say. "Excellent idea." Six says. "It will be an advantage for us." Six leaves the room. "Well, we've gotten a lot done today, how about we call it a day?" Mozzie asks. "Sure." The rest of us say as we leave the workshop.
I walk to my door to find Mira there, once again. "Trying to break in again?" I ask. "No." She says. "Let's go in, I wanted to talk to you," I say. We go in and we sit on the couch, next to each other. "Why did you want to talk to me about?" She asks. "I wanted to apologize for what happened last night. You were trying to show how much you cared for me. I pushed you away. I'm sorry." I say, remorse in my voice. "It's ok. I shouldn't have done that. I forgot you were mourning your girlfriend." She says. "Well, at least the MDU is now complete," I say. "Oh, it is? Who's the 2nd?" She asks. "Arin 'Omega' Kingston," I say. "He's a former Mask, and he's helping us create replicas of the Masks so we can fight them without fighting them." I say "We're calling them 'situations', coined by Twitch." I say. "Wow. That's going to be a big help." Mira says. "Yea. Can't wait to take it for a spin." I say. Can't wait to fuck up some Masks, I almost added. Mira looks at me with a loving look on her face. "You thinking of something? With me, it seems with that look." I say. "Yea... Will you push me away again?" She asks "You'll have to find out." I say. She leans in for a kiss. I do too. Knock at the door. I answer it. It's Mozzie. "You want to join us for a dinner celebrating our new program today, mate?" He asks. "Sure. Mira, you want to join too?" I say. "Sure!" She says. "Sit us next to each other, bro. She'll like it a lot." I whisper to him. "Got you, mate." He says, leaving. "See you there!" He yells back. "Now, back to our regularly scheduled plan," I say. I sit back down, and Mira and I kiss. For the first time in a while, I feel the warm touch of a lover. It makes me forget about my dead brother and girlfriend, making me feel good, for the first time in a long time. We back away. "Wow. Didn't know that you were a kisser." She says. Yea, guess dating someone for 19 years will do that. "Thanks, I actually forgot about everything bad in the world for a few," I say. The time, I see, is almost 18:30. Almost time for dinner! "Hey, go and get ready for dinner," I say. She leaves, and I get dressed in some Marine fatigues and nice shoes. Best clothing I have here at Hereford. Mira and I meet back up in the hall and walk together to the mess hall.
