The feel of leaves and dirt was foreign to him as he landed unceremoniously on the forest floor. Finally, light blue appeared in his various wounds, but it seemed as though he couldn't heal fast enough.

Jamie pushed himself up into a halfway standing position, adrenaline refusing to come when he heard the footsteps sprinting towards where he was planted. He vaguely saw the figure through bleary eyes, and his brain didn't have the energy to think about how /fast/ it was coming towards him.

He felt arms slip under his, holding him up easily. It was a boy who looked a little older than he was.

"It's okay, you're safe now."

He barely had enough time to register the words, they seemed to be a phrase of comfort, before he slipped into the pleasant unconsciousness.

Caramel hues slowly blinked open, taking in the new surroundings.

He seemed to be a structure of some sort, the thought immediately causing him to sit upright.

"'Lena! He's awake!"

There was the voice again. What was it saying?

A woman with dark hair and tan skin appeared at the door, causing Jamie to stumble back as far as he could while still staying on the couch. What made him even more wary was the soft smile on her lips.

"My name's Elena. What's your name?"

He tilted his head curiously.

"Who are you?"

Her confusion seemed to match his as her attention seemed to turn off of him, at least for the time being.

"Ben! Call Cas, tell him to get over here, and then run and get Care, okay?"

Jamie recognized the other boy's appearance in the room, realizing he hadn't seen him a couple of moments ago. He nodded and ran into the other room, leaving Jamie and Elena alone.

He didn't recognize the new clothing on him, the t-shirt, sweatshirt, and new pair of jeans a foreign idea to him. After inspecting the t-shirt, he listened intently to the conversation which was happening in the other room. First, it was the boy, and then another voice he didn't recognize.

"Yeah, I just found him in the woods. He looks nice, but he speaks this weird language."

"And you believe it might be enochian? You know that would be next to impossible, only angels know enochian."

"I guess that's why Aunt Elena asked me to get /you/. Besides, it's worth a shot, right?"

There was a moment of silence before the other voice spoke up again.

"I'll be right there. Elena's house in Mystic Falls, correct? The girl who Dean was so smitten with before we had to leave."

"That's the one!"

The sound of wings filled him up with abject terror. He quickly pulled his legs up onto the couch, hugging his knees with his arms. The woman seemed to... notice his fear.

"Hey, hey, hey, he's a friend, okay? No need to be-"

"It's not possible."

Jamie's head immediately snapped up at the sound of the other voice from the phone. The man next to the boy who saved him was about average height with shaggy black hair and blue eyes.

But it was only a vessel.

The word "no" was on a constant unintelligible repeat for two out of the four people in the room. The dark haired angel rushed forward, careful not to get too close to the fugitive.

"Are you Jamie?"

Finally, he heard some familiar words, even if they were spoken by an angel. He reluctantly nodded.

"Who are you? Who are they? Where am I?"

"My name is Castiel, and this is Elena. Your rescuer is named Ben, and I highly doubt they know what you are and where you came from."

He swallowed guiltily, spilling out information which confirmed all of Castiel's suspicions. The angel listened intently and stoically, relaying the information in English to Ben and Elena.

"His name is Jamie Milton, but the angels rarely called him by his first name, only by his middle name or degrading names in Enochian. He's half angel and half human, and - we've all heard about a few angels holding illegal experiments on something, I just didn't know it was a /child/."

Jamie watched closely, trying to learn how to speak this new language from the resemblance between what he had told the angel and what the angel was telling Elena and Ben. These ideas seemed so foreign to him, one of the biggest was that an angel could be nice to someone like him.
