Hi Peaks knew he was an odd boy from when he could first have thoughts. He wasn't extremely bright, but he knew it wasn't normal for people to suddenly drop dead when he got angry. He knew it wasn't normal for chairs to decompose when he touched them. He knew it wasn't normal for six-year-old boys to murder people for a living.
He knew he shouldn't go to school on Wednesday 13 March, 2006.
He knew.
But that didn't stop him from going.
.. .. ..
Hi looked around the hallway. He was alone. Exactly how he wanted it.
He sat in the middle of the floor, picking a box out of his bag. The box had animate carvings on it, and the carving matched those on his arms and legs. They only got up to his wrist and ankles, but even he knew no one should touch them. Last time someone had...
...it hadn't been pretty.
He was wearing black leather gloves and black combat boots. His whole attire was black, as usual. He had white hair and pale skin. He would have been considered albino if not for his startling green eyes and the splotch of freckles dotting over his cheeks like a mini constellation.
Inside the box were some ashes. He picked one up and twirled it in his fingers. It was still smoking and small pieces were breaking off, but it didn't burn him. And the prices that broke up fell off his gloves and got absorbed into his skin. He did this for a while, then dropped it back into the box. Something bad was going to happen today, he could tell.
He walked left, in the opposite direction of his maths class. He knew he should turn right. He knew he would regret doing what he was about to do. But that didn't stop him from doing it.
He didn't end up going to class that day. He wasn't seen in school for the rest of the day. The principal called his parents to see what was wrong, then found out he hadn't gone home. But they weren't concerned, he was a rebel. He most time got back late. It was normal.
But they really started getting concerned when they couldn't find him for the rest of the week. All his prints were gone. His DNA was found lingering around the locker, then it was gone. Poof. As though it had never existed.
Then, there was the mysterious closing down of Bunny Bunny Industries. It was named after his daughter's suggestion, but it had closed down. Which was suspicious because of how high the ratings were. It was getting richer by the day, and it wasn't doing any illegal shippings or experiments on animals or any of that. It was perfectly fine. Which is what made it sad.
No, not sad. Which is what made it clear:
They had taken Hi.
