I just can't believe his nerve, he was being an annoying arse all day long, now his music is blaring through the study hall and he is snapping at me? I push the plug of his earphones to his computer before responding to his snobbish behavior because at least one of us needs to behave like their age and he is obviously not the one.
It also gives me the time to count until ten to calm some nerves down. I don't want to answer him with what immediately comes to my mind as a reaction to his snarky comment. My mom always keeps telling me to never react immediately as it only brings more drama and deepens the tension, be more of an observer and a collected person.
"Excuse me, mister, but it is not me who is distracting you, it is actually your precious presence who has been disrupting everyone's concentration, so could you at least not be a fucking snob and snap at me and-", I am cut mid-sentence with another barrage of words stumbling out of his mouth: "Well, I clearly didn't know that my fucking earphone was not plugged correctly but you have fixed that already and gave me your peace of mind so now if you will excuse me, some of us do have deadlines to catch up to.", he tells me and goes back to his work,
I can't believe this asshole doesn't even want to acknowledge his fault or say sorry for being so rude and inconsiderate of others through the day. I am so frustrated with him that if it wasn't for the advice that my mother gave me and the fact that I have never been a violent person in my entire life, I would have smacked some sense into him, so the only thing I do, is to lift my hands above my head, in the air to get some of the frustrated energy out.
After that, I just go back to my seat and put on some noise preventing earplugs just to avoid the sound of constant typing from the other end of the table but it is really uncomfortable because of the pressure difference in- and outside of my ears.
When the librarian announces that it is 6:00 o'clock and during the holiday week, it is the closing time, I collect my stuff and head towards the toilet before heading home as there is a thirty-minute walk from the campus to my dorm. As I leave the WC while drying my hands, I am stopped by Youri, my only friend. He is as ambitious and drama free as me and very funny which only helps his case, "Hey, Haadi babe, do you want to go out tonight? Just a little drink and great food?" he asks while hugging me.
"Hello and happy new year to you too, you know I can't, I am really tired from studying the whole day and just want to get to my room, read a little bit and call it a day.", I say in a whiny and tired tone.
"No, not happening, God, your kind of quality time is so boring, I am already feeling sleepy.", he says with an exaggerated act of yawning. Just when I try to argue, he puts his finger on my lips and adds:" Come on, Haadi, the party is at the Rutherfords' house and I have heard that the hottest guy in the campus aka Rutherford's oldest son, is going be there too, he is so hot but always stays out of the college party scene. Just think about it, the idea of him being at the party tonight is a whole reason by itself to be there too, so help a friend with some eye candy?", he keeps going on but when he sees my eyebrows shoot up, he smirks and adds: "Don't be surprised, some of us do have an active and alive sexuality and want to indulge in some hot nerds even if it is from a distance."
His comment on "even from a distance" makes me a little sad because that means that the guy he has a crush on, is as straight as they come, but of course, he misuses my sad smile and shrieks: "Oh it is a yes then!".
"No wait, not so fast young man, I am going to go with you to this party, but on two conditions: first you are going with your own car and second: you don't get wasted so that you can drive yourself back home, I am going to leave sooner than you would like, so don't count on me to bring you back home, and to be honest most of the parties aren't my scene anyway and I am sure this one is not going to be any different.", I briskly add. He nods and we part away towards our dorms to freshen up. Just when I unlock my room, I hear the ping of my phone and see that Youri has sent me the address of the supposed party house.
