When we arrived at the party, I was not surprised by the loud techno music, if we even can call that crap music and beer cups are everywhere. What I don't see is the good food and quality drinks by which Youri tried to seduce me. When Youri sees a bunch of guys and some girls with them, he immediately takes my hand as we navigate through the drunk and crowded dance floor towards Youri's other friends.
When we have arrived, a dude immediately waves his hands towards us and invites us to take the seats next to him. When we are seated, he himself gets up and starts asking people if they want to have a beer. When he asks me which beer do I prefer, I immediately decline immediately which makes him chuckle and he adds: "Wow, look at here, we have a good girl here who apparently doesn't drink at a college party". I roll my eyes and answer his not so funny retort: "It is not about being good or bad, do you think that someone who drinks, is imidiately a bad person or someone who doesn't drink is a good one? Funny the judgment is coming from you, the man who just offered an alcoholic beverage to everyone, but just to be clear, I did have a few drinks before college days but as a chemistry student, I know better about the harms caused by alcohol now and just don't think that alcohol is worth that much risk. It's just a matter of choice.", I shrug but then add a smile to make it less harsh and more of a "friendly answer". I don't add the fact that I don't know him and don't trust him with my drink.
My long explanation makes him chuckle again and he offers his hand while adding: "You're a feisty one and I like it, I am Heyden, I am majoring in computer science." I shake his hands and answer to him: "Nice to meet you, Heyden, I am Hadia and you already know my major-". I am cut off by Youri: "But her friends call her Haadi, and as you guys are officially introduced I am allowing you, to call her that too." I roll my eyes and set back next to Youri.
Heyden excuses himself and goes to bring drinks for the group. He was unexpectedly nice which is a good start but yet, I am not impressed and there is nothing different in this party than any other parties organized around the campus.
When I take my seat next to Youri, I ask him: "So you prefer this above the good and sometimes hot books that I read?" which makes him chuckle and he adds while his eyes are blazing from mischief because he knows that I am talking about my epub collection of Young adult and adult books: "Chill you perv, You haven't seen Jonathan yet, he is better than all those hotshot book hero's you read, even hotter than Cole Maddison, your supposed book husband. Good things demand patients". He then diverts his attention back to Heyden who is just distributing the drinks and asks: "Hey, Heyden, where is the mighty Jonathan that you practically bribed us with to come to your party? Don't tell me you couldn't convince him to join us tonight, where is the fun in that when the hottest factor of the party is missing?".
His choice of words makes me cringe, just because this Jonathan is a man, doesn't mean he should be subjected to such objectifying thoughts. But, of course, I keep my mouth shut and don't correct him, I might talk to him about this some other day, when it is just two of us, but not here, not in front of his friends. That is just rude.
When Heyden offers Youri his drink, he adds: "No, man, sorry but I am not sure that Jonathan is going to be here tonight. He has been working on this important project of his and despite being in the library the whole day today, it is apparently not finished yet and he was in a foul mood when he returned home so I didn't ask him to join us".
Then Heyden asks Youri to scoot over so that he can sit next to me. When he sets next to me he gives me a can of soda and says that it is unfair that everyone gets to drink something other than me. "So tell me what is your story, why aren't you home right now because I have never seen you in the parties so I am convinced that they are not your scene?", he asks. "Nothing much really, I like reading and school is a lot to handle so no time for parties.", I deliberately ignore the second part of his question. What is his deal with so many questions? I barely know his name and his major and he is prosecuting me. Just to avoid further investigation I ask for the loo even though I don't need to pee, but I need all little bit of space. "Yeah, sure baby, just take the stairs to the first floor and then turn right, it is the third door in your lift."
That is it, I have to make sure that I spend as much time away from this flirt as possible and make my leave without grabbing his attention, therefore I need to find an empty room or balcony just to spend a little bit time without making them notice my absence, because the idea of locking myself in the toilet sounds yucky to me. "Baby? Really? does that work on girls?" I mumble while going through the alley in my right on the second floor.
When I enter one of these rooms I am immediately exposed to a couple who are literally 69'ing each other. "Hey, fuck off!", shrieks the guy. "I am so so sorry, I didn't know-" the dude gets up and puts a hand on the door while his bits are just hanging out there. "Which part of "fuck off" didn't you get?", he adds before shutting the door on my face.
I know that I am blushing very hard because it suddenly feels really hot. Just before I turn to leave some familiar voice says: "Serves you good for being nosey". When I turn to see who it is, I see the annoying guy from the library, not this again! He takes his cue to continue. "What are you doing snooping around? Shouldn't you be in the dining room because that is where the party is going on? I might add, I didn't take you for a party animal, but then people can be disappointing in real life-". There he goes again, trying to be better than others so this time I don't hold anything back. To hell with being an observer: "What the fuck, you snob? Who the fuck do you think you are that you are calling me a disappointment? You of all people? Do you know how rude you were in the library, not just to me but to every other student who wanted to work for school, and then you come here and lecture me on how to behave, you condescending asshole?"
