Chapter 4: The Jungle of Misery

Kitty's pov:

A wailing scream echoed throughout the jungle as we journeyed through it.

"Sure sounds like a jungle of misery to me" Crash murmured shakily. I kept looking around the area. I felt anxious, i felt like we were being... watched. My thoughts drifted back to Buck and all his talk about how dangerous this place is. I sighed, the smell was different, not the smell that i knew. What if we'll need Buck? But i have to be honest, it was beautiful down here but i know that you have to have some sort agility to survive in here. Ellie and Manny were talking near me as i walked besides Diego. "Are you okay?" I heard his voice ask with concern.

I sighed, "Yeah, just worried is all. Im worried and scared actually. Worried about Sid being with those dinosaurs, and scared for his and our lives. What if something happens?" I told him while my eyes burned with near tears.

Diego shushed me gently as he nuzzled my head warmly, "Hey, it'll be okay, i promise. Sid is probably fine, mama Dino is not stupid to eat him. As well as, i'll protect you. You, our baby, and our herd. I promise that we'll get Sid back and return to our own world"

I cracked a smile and nodded, "Yeah. Your right Diego, thank you and i love you" I purred as i nuzzled his chin with my nose

Diego chuckled with a deep purr, "I love you too, Kitty"

Suddenly a voice startled me as Manny came past us, "You're hungry! Low blood sugar!" He said to his mate. "Oh look there's some fruit!" He hurried to a bright red, pear shaped fruit hanging from a vine in the middle of the trail.

"I wouldn't do that if i were you. This isn't exactly your playground." Diego advised as he joined Manny at the fruit. Manny snorted as i spoke "And i advise aswell to get away from that plant. We don't exactly know how fruits work in here." I told Manny with concern glazing over my face.

"Yeah like i'm really gonna be afraid of a little flower." Manny retorted and reached out to pluck out the fruit. But before he could, vines popped out of the earth and wrapped around both male legs.

"Betcha didn't see that coming" Diego said sarcastically as they were both lifted from the ground and hung upside down so the plant can swallow them. I looked at Diego worriedly, Ellie doing the same with Manny.

"Stop eating our friends plant!" Eddie ordered as the brothers charged the plant with sticks... until vines came after them making them retreat back to us as me and Ellie were standing by side-to-side. "That's it! I'm tearing it up by the roots!"

I nodded, "And me with my claws" As we started towards the plant but were stopped by a familiar voice. "Do that, and it'll clamp shut forever" Buck was leaning against a tree, observing us.

"What!?" Me and Ellie shouted

"Alright preggers don't get ya trunk and paw in a knot. I'll have em' out of there before they're digested."

"Digested!?!?" Manny screamed, poking his head up through the plant. A vine promptly shoved him back down.

"They'll be nothing but bones im three minutes. Well, maybe five for the fat one."

"I'm not fat!" Comes the muffled reply from Manny. Buck continued to stretch as i nervously looked at the plant with my love and best friend trapped inside.

"Oh.. hurry!" Me and Ellie urged Buck

"It's time to get... Buck wild" He shot towards the plant, vines snapping at him in every which way. He flipped into the air and went spiralling down into the mouth of the plant, only to get stuck. We then waited. I gasped with horror as we saw the plant starting to sin to the ground- they were get digested!! "Diego!" I screamed

"No!" Ellie screamed at the top of her lungs as well. 

Suddenly the plant stopped retracting and everything froze. I held my breath, w-what has happened? Then the plant erupted out of the ground and burst open, splattering a green goo everywhere. The... twin opossums got covered in it.. eww. Me and Ellie were a safe distance away so we didn't get covered, luckily.

A shadow casted over the ground as Manny landed with a yell and splat with Diego following along, who landed safely on Manny's back. Buck floated down gracefully on a leaf. "Pff... tourists" He said and marched off. Me and Ellie approached the boys.

"Barfed on by a plant, awesome!" The twins said excitedly together in sync.

"Say something" Me and Ellie urged 

"Uh... thanks for saving us" Manny offered to Buck, as Diego nodded in appreciation.

"Buck, will you help us find the floppy green thing?" Ellie asked

"Please?" I agreed sweetly

"That's not necessary!" Manny insisted, shooting up as he bounced Diego off of him.

"Yes it is" I said as Buck turned around to face us all.

"All right! But i got rules! Rule number one! Always listen to Buck!" We blinked, "Rule number two! Stay in the middle of the trail. Rule number three................. who has gas travels at the back of the pack." Eddie hung his head with a groan as he sadly walked to the rear. "Well come on then!" Buck said as he started to march forward.

"We should all have our heads examined" Manny said as we walked

"That's rule number four!" Buck called out with the simple response. I sighed with a determined smile on my face. Sid, ready or not, but soon you'll be back with your family!
