Chapter 3 - getting embarrassed

Pov Amelia
What a weird family, but definitely not as weird as mine. I walked into my house and Liz was on the couch.
"Hey where's Kathleen" I asked.
"Probably with Brandon" Liz replied, Brandon is Kathleen's boyfriend.
"Okay. And Derek" I asked.
"Out with Meredith. Before you ask no Nancy hasn't called or come home and Mom is in the kitchen" Liz said and I nodded. I made my way into the kitchen.

"Hey mom" I said.
"Hey sweetie. How are the neighbors" she asked.
"Eh the moms cool, the daughters bitchy and the sons kinda cute" I said.
"Oooh does Amelia have a crush on the neighbors son" my mom said.
"Mom stop" I said thoroughly annoyed.
"Hey I'm just teasing" my mom said.
"Yeah yeah" I said.
"Do you want dinner" she asked.
"Nah I'm not hungry I'll eat later" I said.
"Okay" she said. I left the kitchen and decided to head to my room.

I was lying on my bed when there was a knock at my door.
"Come in" I said.
"Hey Amy" Derek said as he walked in.
"Meredith wanted me to give you this" Derek said handing me a small box. I opened it and inside was a beautiful necklace with a dolphin.
"Nice. What did I do to get it" I asked.
"I don't know she just told me to give it to you" Derek said.
"Cool tell her I say thanks" I told him and he nodded and left. I wonder what Meredith wants.

Pov Owen
"So what did you think of the new neighbor girl Amelia" my sister asked me.
"She's cute I guess" I said. I mean I wasn't totally lying she was pretty cute. Like honestly.
"So are you gonna ask her out?" My mom asked.
"No I barely know her" I said.
"We'll get to know her" my sister said and I rolled my eyes.
"Yeah invite her over for dinner tonight" my mom said and I sighed.
"Okay fine I'll invite her" I said. I walked to my room and took my shirt off. I opened my window and looked at Amelia's house. Her window was open but she wasn't looking out it probably because she was getting dressed. I turned away from my window so I didn't see anything. When i looked back out the window she was staring at me.  I waved and she waved back. I threw on a shirt and closed my curtains. I walked out my front door and started walking to her house.

Before I could even knock the door opened.
"Owen" Amelia said smiling.
"Amelia" I said.
"Did you need something" she asked.
"Yeah my mom wants you to come over to my house for dinner tonight. She's making it a big deal" I said chuckling.
"I mean yeah sure I'll come." She said smiling at me all cutely.
"Great" I said.
"Yeah. Do you wanna come in" she asked and I nodded. I stepped in and her house was really nice.
"I should change and then we can head to your house if you want" Amelia said and I nodded.
"Should I stay here" I ask and she shrugged.
"Yeah I'll be down in a hot sec" she said and ran up her stairs. I started walking around her house. I found some pictures of Amelia as a kid, she was really cute.
"Oh you most be Owen" someone who looked exaclty like Amelia but instead as a guy.
"Yeah that'd be me. You are" I said curious to know.
"I'm Derek. Amelias brother" Derek said. He walked over and stuck his hand out and I shook it.
"Hmm I didn't think you were gonna be the one to initiate that" I said laughing going back to when Amelia didn't shake my hand.
"Why's that? Oh did Amelia not shake your hand, don't take it personal she's not big on human contact" Derek laughed. I talked with Derek some more about Amelia as we were looking at her pictures.
"Hey stop no" Amelia said coming over and pushing me slightly as she put the photos with her down.
"Aww no you looked cute in that one" I said slightly pushing Amelia. Though she didn't seem to take that well.
"Let's go" she said. That's when I took in her appearance. She was wearing a simple nice black dress that when just abover her knees.
"You look nice by the way" I said as we walked out her front door.
"Thank you" she said blushing slightly.
