I can't believe I just let Zoe stay here. But where could she have gone in the first place?

Now Mom and Dad probably didn't care that I left but now that Zoe is gone, oh they're definitely on a search now.

If they find Zoe, they're going to find me.

"God what was I thinking? I'm such a fucking idiot!" I paced back and forth in me and Jared's room.

"Yeah no, I'm calling Evan." He picked up his phone which I quickly smacked out of his hand.

"No. He's already stressed about the test in History. No way am I going to stress him about my fucking problems."

He groans laying back in my bed. "Dude, it'll be fine. This place has only lost one court case but we don't speak of that. There is no w-"

"YEAH BUT THAT DOESN'T FUCKING MEAN I WON'T BE THE SECOND!" I storm out of the room, slamming the door behind me.

I received a few texts after I left.

Jared: Dude
Jared: Come back
Jared: it's fine man
Jared: hey
Jared: Connor
Jared:  fuck you too.
Jared:  shit I'm calling evan

And let's not forget..

Evan💙💙: Connor?
Evan💙💙: Jared told me what happened.

I walked to the diner that Heidi works.

I smoked the way there.

Okay! To be fair, I haven't smoked since I got here and it was just 1 cigarette.

"This was such a bad idea" I scolded myself and sipped my milkshake.

Heidi only had 10 minutes left of her break and I've been holding back my tears the entire time.

Until.. 

"Connor, I'm sure everything is going to be fin-"

I couldn't help it. "I don't wanna go home"

The tearS kept streaming down and wouldn't stop. After so often I'd gasp for a breath but went straight back to wheezing.

Before I or Heidi could say anything, we heard the door open and the bell go off, signalling there's a customer.

More like 3.

"Connor!" Zoe, Evan, Jared and Blue yelled as soon as they saw me.

Heidi gave me a look of 'cheer up, kiddo'. The same look my mom gave me when nobody showed up to any of my birthday parties, or when I came home crying because somebody made fun of my hair or when I came home from the hospital after-

"Have you been here for the past 4 hours?" Zoe hugs me.

I go to say something but Heidi says it first, "it's been 4 hours?!"

And she's off.

"So good news everyone, Connor has met Evan's future mom" Jared sits across from me and kicks my legs.

"J-Jared! She's not- i-its not gonna happen" Evan sits next to me while Blue and Zoe argue about who sits where.

"Long story short, Heidi has always been like a mom to Evan and legend has it that shes planning on adopting him. That's why she's working here. To get money."

Evan kicks Jared, earning him a loud and dramatic ow.

"I'm- uh I'm almost 17 and if she was plan-planning on a-adopting me she um would've done it 3 years ago"

Valid argument.

"How fucking stupid are you? Of course mom and dad was going to track your fucking phone! God what was I thinking letting you stay here. I shouldve sent you back home.." I say for the third time today.

Mom and dad were in Mr. Heere's office, threatening to sue.

They tracked Zoe's phone.

Zoe was in her room and Jared was trying to calm both of us down.

"What, it's not like I've tried to run away before unlike you" She spat. Pushing away from her.

"No fucking shit Sherlock! Clearly you didn't because you've always had no fucking reason too! You've always had the better grades, you've always had the better friends, you've always had everything. You had no reason to run away! How many times have I tried? Oh I don't know 4? 5? FUCKING 9?!"  I scream, backing her up against the door.

Before she could say anything back, Jared grabs my arms pulling me back. "JESUS FUCKING CHRIST YOU TWO NEVER STOP"

The door swings open.
