I woke up to the sound of my mum yelling at me to wake up and get ready for school. This was a normal occurrence as I always slept through my alarm because I had a bad habit of staying up late to do my homework, read books or write fan-fiction. I knew I should've been sleeping, or gone to bed earlier, but I just couldn't help it. I was a nerd at heart and that's how it had always been.
"Anne! Wake up or you'll be late for school!" My mum called from downstairs.
"I'm up!" I yelled back.
With a groan, I pulled myself out of bed and checked the time on my phone. It was 8:00am. I had half and hour to get to school for first period. I quickly jumped in the shower, brushing my teeth while I was at it and then dried myself off. I chucked on a plain blue sweater, jeans and pulled on my converse shoes. I didn't bother brushing my hair and just threw it up into a messy bun. I grabbed my school bag and ran downstairs.
Mum was already impatiently waiting by the door with her car keys. I got into the car and we drive off towards school. We got there just after the bell had rung. If I ran I could make it just in time for Science. I got out of the car and began to hurry.
I had barely made it through the gates when I ran into something hard. I heard a male voice groan and looked up. I was met with the sparkling ocean eyes of the school's one and only bad boy, Jesse Matthews. His black hair was perfectly messy and he had a 5 o'clock shadow that frame his face like a work of art. Yet the only good thing about him was his looks.
Jesse was an asshole and spent his time disrespecting teachers and bullying other students. He didn't do his schoolwork and skipped class regularly. He also had a habit of womanising, each girl only around for a few weeks at most. He disgusted me and I never wanted anything to do with him.
"Watch it," I snapped and went to go around him.
"Wait a second, Princess," Jesse said as he grabbed my arm. His tone was playful. "You're the one who ran into me."
"Whatever," I scoffed and yanked my arm away. "And don't call me Princess."
"Whatever you say Princess," He said with a charming grin and blew a kiss.
God, he was insufferable. I rolled my eyes at him and walked towards my class. When I got to class, I was late.
"Miss Sharp, you're late." Mr Jenkins said from behind his square framed glasses.
"I'm really sorry, sir. I slept in," I explained.
"Don't let it happen again. Sit down so we can continue," he said.
With a sigh I sat down at the last available desk at the back of the room. I usually never sat at the back of the room, I always preferred the front. Only people like Jesse sat at the back.
"Nice entrance, Anne," smirked Monica Lewis.
Monica Lewis was the schools most popular girl. She was also the school's biggest bitch. Her hair was bleached blonde, she wore too much make-up and always wore slutty tops that showed off her boobs and short skirts so she could flash her skirt up at any guy who pleased her. She was a massive slut and was known to screw Jesse when she was on another break with her hot and popular boyfriend, Jake. I hated her just as much as I hated Jesse.
I chose to ignore her comment, and faced the front to pay attention to Mr Jenkins trying to teach the class science. However, his teachings were short lived because Jesse Matthews burst in through the door unceremoniously.
"Mr Matthews, you're late." Mr Jenkins said.
"Am I?" Jesse asked. "I didn't realise."
"Detention. Go take your seat."
Jesse smirked and rolled his eyes. He sauntered down the rows, heading straight for the seat right next to me. Oh no. I did not want him anywhere near me, but for the second time today he was about to be within touching distance again.
"Hey Princess," he smiled as he sat down.
"Don't call me that!" I hissed.
"Oh, please," Jesse scoffed, "you know you like it, Princess."
"No I don't!" I said a little too loudly.
The whole class heard me and turned around to look. Mr Jenkins looked at me disapprovingly. I felt myself go red with embarrassment. I could see Jesse smirking at me from the corner of my eye.
"Detention for interrupting the class a second time, Miss Sharp." Mr Jenkins said and then went back to teaching.
I had ever felt more embarrassed and angry in my life. I had never gotten detention before, and now I had one all thanks to the asshole that is Jesse Matthews. I had never hated him more in my life than in that moment.
"No, need to look so upset, Princess," Jesse said to me in a low voice, "It means you get to spend more time with me."
"I'd rather go to hell." I bit back.
The bell couldn't have rung soon enough and I fled the class to go to period 2 maths.
