Chapter 1 | Keys

~*Seyoung's POV*~

My day started as a cold winter night. Small white specks of snow pour over Seoul. Clouds appear whenever I exhale warm air. My dark brown coat covering my milky white skin. I extended my hand and reached for the doorknob as I open the glass door. The scent of caffeine lingers in my nose.

I squinted my eyes, searching for someone. My pupils stopped as to find Hoshi smiling at me. A smile plastered on my face as I waved at him then I sat down next to him"So why did you call me out for?"I asked as I ordered.

Hoshi smiles widely as he stuffed his hand in his bag. He took out something and gave it to me with a bright smile. I chuckle softly as I open the wrapper. My eyes widen as to see what was in my hands. It was the limited edition game I've always wanted.

"Hoshi...I know this is expensive, I told you no expensive gifts"I said, crossing my arms

He puffed his cheeks"Aw...but this is different! It's our anniversary as friends"he said, taking a sip from his coffee.

This particular date was the day I met Hoshi. It was a snowy day, just like today. I, clumsy as a child, forgot my coat. I have no choice other than staying inside the classroom where I can feel a slight of warmth. While waiting for the snow to die down, I saw Hoshi and his friends came in the classroom, laughing with each other. I knew one of his friends who's name is Seungkwan but the rest are the people I am not familiar with.

It didn't took long before Hoshi notice my presence. In confusion, he scrunched up his forehead"why are you dressing so cold?'he asked. I smiled and just shrugged, not knowing what to reply.

He sighs as he peeled off his brown coat from his body"Here, take my coat. I have an extra pair in my locker"He said and gave me a warm and brown coat.

My heart beats rapidly as I look away"T-Thanks..."I said, extending both of my arms to take the coat.

He smiles warmly at me"What's your name?"he asked as he sits on one of the chairs.

"It's Seyoung...Kim Seyoung"I said, reaching out to shake his hand.

He gladly accept my friendly gesture by shaking my hand"I'm Soonyoung! Well it's nice to meet you, but I have to go"he said as he pats my head. I stared at him as he went up to his friends, who were waiting outside the room. He looked at me as waved goodbye and left.

After that we've been hanging out with each other ever since

My lips curled upwards"Aw...thanks, I got you something too"I said as I took out a small plastic bag and handed it to him.

Hoshi's eyes widen as he took the plastic bag from my hand"Woah! Is this the really expensive skincare that everybody buys?"he asked as he scans the box but suddenly he raised an eyebrow"wait, I thought you said no expensive gifts?"

I laughed awkwardly"hehe...well, at least we're even"I said as I pinch his cheeks. A minute later I heard a ring from my pocket making me sigh. I took out my phone as my brother's name flashes the screen and picked it up.

"Hello?"I said over the phone, the just-say-it-cause-I-don't-give-a-damn look plastered on my face.

'I'm taking my girlfriend to a vacation with me, I'll be back in 3 weeks'

"Well say hi to Karleen for me"I said, with the same uninterested look on my face.

'By the way, where are you now?'

I took a quick glance at Hoshi, who was busy taking pictures of the gift I bought for him"I'm at a cafe with Soonyoung, why?"

'Did you bring your keys with you?'

Thd question echoed inside my head, making my whole body shiver in fear, making me look at Hoshi with a look of worry and despair.

'You forgot to bring it with you, didn't you...?'

I stood up and dragged Hoshi to my car. I opened the car door and got in. Hoshi looked at me, confused, but got in anyway. I slammed the car door shut as I started the engine"why are you in such a rush? What happened?"he asked, looking at me. I can feel my lips and throat dry up. My silence was already the message that I didn't have time to talk.

We arrived at my neighborhood as I stopped by my house and ran to the front door. The lights were turned off so it's obvious that there is no one home. I twisted the door knob hoping if it was unlocked but it won't open.

"Hey, what's wrong?"Hoshi asked, still shocked and confused by my sudden outburst. I looked at him with tears forming inside my eyes"I...I left my keys inside!"
