(Chapter 5)
Invisible~*~
Author POV
"Jimin meet me in my office after dinner." his father's words were commanding as he instructed his illegitimate son."Yes Sir" Jimin bowed his head respectfully. Though his heart was beating quickly in his chest out of fear.
The dinner passed smoothly, the family eating their fill as the servants stood on the side lines stomachs rumbling from the smell of cooked food. Some clutched at their stomachs discreetly.
But soon they were rushing about to clear the table, Jimin went to do the same, but was stopped by his father's steely gaze upon him. He meant to come to the office immediately it would seem. Jimin calmed the tremor of his body as he followed the stoic man.
~*~
The palace just as grand as Jimin had imagined it. It towered above the capital city of the Valerien, polished marble that seemed to glimmer in the son. It was all so extravagant compared to what he was used to.
Jimin eyed the guards warily as he helped his family from their carriage. His step mother scowled as she had to hold his hand to get out of the carriage or risk breaking her ankle on her heels. Junai gave him a soft smile, Jimin dipped his head to his younger step sister, a smile mirrored on his face too.
Jimin was wearing the clothing that all the servants were required to wear for the ball. The were the colours of the Kingdom's flag, a deep red. It consisted of a black mask that settled on the bridge of his nose. It covered all of his face except around his mouth, this ensured that no one could recognise the servants and they would all remain anonymous at the ball.
My step-mother and step-sister headed to the entrance and waited in the queue to be let in. Jimin was about to head around to the servants entrance, but his father grabbed his arm, the left one that bared his soul mate marks. His grip on the servant's wrist was excruciating.
"You know what to do, don't mess it up. " He threatened, all while his hand was getting tighter around Jimin's wrist. Jimin let out a whimper of pain, he could already feel the begging of bruises appearing on his skin.
"I understand Sir" Jimin replied, tears welling in his eyes from the pain.
"Good" his father released the young man's wrist. Walking away to stand in the queue with his step family.
Jimin clutched his wrist to his body, cradling it gently. It was burning and painful enough that Jimin wanted to cry. Looking up to entrance, his father gave him a cold stare, signalling for Jimin to enter the servant's entrance, though he gave a small smirk when he saw Jimin cradling his arm. It was all going according to his plan.
Jimin headed towards the servant's entrance and easily passed through. Immediately he was greeted by loud music and smells of exotic foods and wines. Jimin walked over to the corner where he saw his family were about to be introduced to the royal family.
"Kim Namjoon" Jimin heard watching the Prince speak, he could feel his arm began to burn again. Jimin cursed internally for his father's strength.
He watched as his family were dismissed from the royal's presence, they made their way to the seating area for the nobles. Jimin caught his father's eyes, he beckoned him over. Jimin approached them efficiently
"Sir, my ladies do you desire anything from the buffet?" Jimin inquired bowing his head in false respect for them. Jimin noticed his father's business partner sitting by his side, he smirked at me.
"Well done Park you've managed to train a good servant" he said in a deep voice.
"Fetch me some of the red wine, not from the table. The bottle we brought from home should suffice" his father demanded.
"Yes Sir" Jimin spoke clearly, not wanting to embarrass his father by muttering.
Jimin bowed once again turning around and heading to the kitchens. He bumped into someone, muttered a quick 'sorry' he continued walking. His wrist began to burn more painfully than before. Jimin chalked it up to bumping it into the person he ran into.
He left through the servants door, but instead of turning left he went right. His heart was thumping in his chest, from nerves.
When he had gone to his father's office the night before the man had ordered something of him. He had briefly given him a class to be able to read a title. His father wanted him to steal a document, one he could not obtain by himself.
One a servant of many could get to without question. Jimin knew it was wrong, he had no idea what his father wanted with the document, but he feared the man's wrath more than sticking to his own morals.
The guards were all surrounding the King's hall, no one paid attention to the servant walking past. The uniform almost made him invisible.
~*~
"What are you doing here?" A guard standing outside the office Jimin was meant to infiltrate.
"The Prince requested I bring a document to him" Jimin bowed his head.
"What document?" The guard demanded.
"He requested me not to mention it to anyone else. It is a private document for his eyes only" Jimin spoke like he was scared to disobey his 'Master'.
The guard sighed but unlocked and pushed the door open, it was closed behind him. Jimin sighed in relief.
He rushed to the desk, he pulled the piece of paper out of his boot, he was to look for a title that shared the same squiggly lines his father had written out for him. He found it easily, it was on top of the desk, the writing matched perfectly, Jimin could practically cry with relief.
He looked to the door, before he pressed a button along the inside of his serving tray, the bottom clicked off, it was to hide the false bottom. He slide the document into the hidden compartment. Clicking it back into place, slipping his father's note back into his boot.
He then grabbed the document from the top of the pile to keep up his facade. The guard nodded to him as he left, unaware of the theft that happened right under his nose.
He made it back to the hall just as the Prince announced that his final soulmate was here.
