Chapter 06: I’m the MAIN Character
The mansion was anything less than spectacular. It was a miniature version of the white house with three towers rising up, the difference was that it wasn’t very white. In fact, it was covered in vines and soil, mud clumps cluttered all over its roof and Max swore that it looked like one of the soil creations Emily had been making on the way back.
Max was bothered by the fact that he didn’t know how to use his powers yet; Emily made sure of that on the way back while she sprouted random figures from the earth. Apparently, she wasn’t just good with fists; there were animals and worst; miniature version of Max.
It bothered Max that he couldn’t use his powers. From what he’d heard, everyone else had powers related to what they enjoyed most in life. Cadaver enjoyed doing dares and stunts which is why he became an immortal zombie. Emily loved sculpting which led to her annoying ability to mold stuff from the soil. Apparently, the rule extended to even insane dreams like Lily’s dream to blow things up.
Max expected himself to be controlling other people since he had a dream of playing video games for life, but that didn’t happen. The only thing he’d managed to actually command was Cadaver. He’d help Max get used to life here, but Max doubted that was because of his power.
“Don’t worry about it Max.” Cadaver comforted. “I’m sure you’ll get them eventually, everyone here does.”
The two were in Cadaver’s room; apparently there were enough rooms for everyone but since Max was new, he’d hang out in Cadaver’s room till everything’s sorted. Cadaver’s room, as he described it, was plain, normal and boring. It was like everyone else’s room in the mansion; which was supposedly all brown and old fashioned. Fitted in with blank picture frames, old wooden closets, a desk, lamp and bed. So when Max entered Cadaver’s room, he expected just that but Cadaver lied. His room was anything but that.
The walls were streaked with what seemed like a mixture of purple and white. All of his other furniture were painted a deep black. It was like being in a bizarre disco room except it was actually cool. The one thing that seemed to be out of place were the small mud sculptures neatly placed all around the room. Max picked one up; a small sea horse sculpture and he only now realized how accurate and detailed the sculptures actually were.
“So you’re close to her, huh?”
Cadaver looked over after taking another pair of black clothes from his closet. Apparently, it was filled with them which made it look really weird since everything else was black in his room. It was like Cadaver was part of the furniture.
“Hmm? Yeah, I am. I guess.” He began as he took off his shirt. Max noticed that his body wasn’t anything like a dare devil would have. In fact, Cadaver was almost as scrawny as he was. The thing that struck him most were the scars. They were all over his body; Max counted at least three big ones that went from one end to the other.
“Dude, please don’t tell me you’re gay.”
Max was startled back to life. He waved his hands at him. “No way bro, just wondering about those scars.”
Cadaver didn’t reply. Instead, he merely put on the shirt and faced the other direction looking out the circular window.
“Not a lot of people really like getting along with people like me. Weird and filled with scars and stuff.” He began. “But Emily stuck with me; at least for the last six days.”
Max began to understood why. He made a mental note to try making friends with the ten year old girl later on.
“Wait hang on, six days? You’ve only been here for six days?”
