(oof the gif wasn't working ill fix it later)

tears were streaming down her face.

everything was aching mentally and physically.

but she kept pushing.

maxine mayfield was broken into a cold sweat as she skated as fast down the barely lit, forest side road. she decided to travel to his house rather than risk being caught by billy. she eventually came to the entrance of steve's house hating the fact that she had to walk through a little bit forest to get to his house, it was sketchy but she was quick. she came around to the side of his large house to the window of the guest bedroom.

before she had the chance to peer into the room she noticed a piece of lined paper with scratchy writing attached to the window. he had left her a note. she pulled the paper off the window and read:

max,

i'm literally praying you didn't get into any trouble tonight dipshit. my parents are actually home tonight and my uncle came as well so guest bedroom isn't available. i'm not home tonight either so bitch i swear if you knocked on the door. i left the pool house door unlocked but my uncle wanted to go for a 'late night swim' so hopefully he didn't lock it back up, if he didn't you can stay there for the night if you want.

i have an early shift at the diner tomorrow morning so if you want to meet me you know where to find me

-steve (your favourite fucking mom)

max sighed crumpling up the paper and whipping at the ground. of course, she thought. she kicked the piece of paper and made her way to his backyard. the backyard was glowing from the pool lights making it easy for max to navigate through the area. she looked around and noticed how calm it was. a light breeze flew through the yard as she walked to the small structure.

when she got closer to the door she noticed that there was something attached the hinge. no, no, no max thought moving faster. when she got to the door she saw a grey lock was placed around the hinge. "shit," she exasperated pulling at it. she sighed looking to the ground. she knew the key was probably in the house, if it was not, he obviously would have told her, but she was desperate. looking around  the shed she noticed a rock near her foot, when she came up with an idea. the rock was a good size to attempt to break the metal lock. she had done this before so she decided to put her skill to use but  when she bent down to pick it up she noticed a light turn on at the corner of her eye.

she looked up at the house and noticed a light in steve's house had turned on, and it wasn't his bedroom.

shit, shit, shit.

she looked closer at the bedroom and her eyes widened when she noticed shadows begin to move around the room. one was growing larger, as if it was coming closer to the window. shit, max turned looked around, she had to leave now. there was no point trying to hide or run out back cause that's where she'd be looked for if steve's parents really wanted to look for what or who was in their backyard, and anyway, it lead to the forest. she dropped the rock she was holding and sprinted to the front of the house.

she ran onto the street and didn't stop until she was a good distance away from the house. max slowed down in the middle of the road, panting. she was so mentally and physically drained she just wanted to curl up on the side of the road and sleep, but she knew that wasn't an option. she was only about five to ten minutes away from her house so she knew she had to keep going.

she dropped her skateboard at the side of the road and took a seat on it deciding to take a break before returning home. she put her sweating head in her hands and felt a sob coming from her throat. she didn't know what to do, she felt helpless. her life was falling apart in her hands and there was no way to mend it back together, and to make matters worse, nobody wanted to help her.
