He never failed a mission. Never. In the 4 years of his life living as an assassin he had failed only 3 missions. Since those he had made sure to never, ever miss the mark.
Loyalty was panicking in the backseat of a car. His fingers were wrapped tightly around his knife. Kacper sat beside him, his lean frame pressed against Loyalty in a way that drove the tiny male insane. He'd been deprived of loving touch for so long he couldn't handle the thought or even feeling of someone touching him. He clenched the knife harder. Not to mention Brayden was supposed to be there. Smiling slightly at the short male. Olivia was on the other side of him, staring coldly out the window. Her ebony skin caught the moonlight and shined slightly. She smelled of lavender. Which meant she had taken a shower before the mission. Loyalty shifted slightly, realizing his hands were clammy, he felt his forehead and realized he was sweating. He stared at his shaking hands
"Calm down Loyalty" Kacper chided from beside him, making the assassin flinch. Team Wolf reminded him of Team Fox. His team. He held back screams as the images of Hanneke, Brayden, Adamo, and Julia. Their screams tearing through his mind like a meat grinder. He felt tears spill down his face and he tried to hide them
"You're seriously fucking crying?" Kacper hissed, cold murder held in his voice. Loyalty flinched harder as he made an angry gesture at the male.
"Stop acting like a fucking pussy" he snarled, poking Loyalty harshly. Rage coiled up in the assassins chest and he lowered his gaze. If he lashed out it would result in his punishment. He shivered slightly at the memories boring into his brain. The car they were tucked in suddenly jolted to a stop and Olivia opened her door and slipped out. Loyalty followed, his legs aching from at least 2 hours of sitting. Sudden fear locked his legs in place and a million thoughts ran through his head
What if I fail?
What happens if I make a mistake?
Is Killian really letting me prove myself?
How can I trust anyone here?
Am I being deceived?
Kacper shoved him from behind and he stumbled forward, snapping back to reality. His gaze sucked in his surroundings. They were in a thick forest, ebony trees blocking his view of the building looming over them in the dark. It was mainly just a huge shadow through the thick trees, but he could make out small features, like tall walls, and a triangular roof, other than that he would have to wait to observe the structure. Killian strode up to the group and motioned forward with a flick of his finger. They silently padded through the forest, their steps making no noise as they crept up to the house. Once they broke through the thicket of trees, Loyalty was able to make out the main features of the building. It wasn't a house. It was a barn. He winced at the closed in spaces and amount of flammable material in there. Loyalty barely noticed when his group stopped. He kept creeping forward until his fingers brushed against the building. He silently observed it, inhaling the sent of the wood and hay. He rose up on his toes, his hand gently pressed up against the smooth wood door. The wood was old, and so was the hay. The building was several years old. He turned around to see Killian staring at him, his hand raised to Loyalty's group behind him. Loyalty finally had the time to study him. He had grown taller, his hair grew longer. He wore a long black trench-coat and baggy pants, topped off with shiny black boots. He nodded his head and the male walked forward.
"Flammable material?"
"Yes"
"Old wood?"
"Yes"
"Good" Killian smirked, his teeth flashing in the moonlight. The leader flicked his hand slightly and four shapes slipped forward and molded around the building, searching for easy, silent access into the building. Loyalty turned away from Killian to join them, but he was instantly pulled back, the belt loops on his pants were tugged on harshly. Killian's hands grabbed Loyalty's hips and the male went stiff. Killian's breath was hot down Loyalty's neck
"Did I tell you to go..?" He hissed, his voice thin as ice
"N-no.." Loyalty replied. Horrible terror raked through his bones and chest. He couldn't breathe. Darkness began to swallow his vision until Killian kissed his ear. He jumped slightly
"Go get em" Killian said, shoving the short male forward gently. The tan assassin stumbled forward, shock strangling him from within. Kacper motioned for him, and he shook his head to run forward. He instantly noticed a window, and he jumped through it, tucking into himself as he passed through the opening, he turned himself, and let his shoulder crash into the floor, he rolled and landed soundlessly on his feet. He shook hay from his body and let his eyes adjust to the darkness. His group flooded in beside him and he motioned towards the hay. He silently stepped forward, demonstrating what he wanted. Only stepping on the hay, he made his way towards a ladder, he swiftly climbed up it and searched around. He saw nothing but the golden bales of hay. He padded forward, his hand gripping the knife in his pocket. Eventually he realized. There was no one. He looked down in confusion at his group, only to realize they were no where to be seen. He panicked, fear roaring in his body. He made a mistake! Then the smell of smoke caught his senses. Horror mangled his thoughts, his body was frozen solid. Crackling filled his ears and reality scraped his mind clean. He ran across the ledge and scrambled down the latter he came up from. He blinked at the window he had entered on the far side of the room. Fire licked through it and began blackening the wood around it and climbing onto the golden piles on the floor. Loyalty turned around and spotted a silver handle to the main barn door. He latched onto it and yanked it open. The short male was instantly blown back by a wave of heat. It ate away at his skin and roared in his ears. He crashed into the ground, his shoulders smashing painfully into the floor. He opened his eyes, and slowly got to his feet. Heat raged along his body, and he looked out the door he opened. Killian smiling. A Molotov in his hand. He threw it. The world seemed to slip into slow motion. The bottle spiraled through the air, shining brilliantly, reflecting flames and hay in its dark brown glass. The bottle landed at his feet, the fire seemingly leapt off from the cloth around the top of the bottle. Then in barely a second the floor erupted into flames and Loyalty was screaming.
