"REMUS!" Remus heard Sirius shout from the living room. He had just been in there with Sirius and Harry, but had just left for the kitchen to brew some coffee with a muggle machine Lily had given them before she— He didn't want to think about that. She figured Remus would like it a lot, and she was anything but wrong. Usually a yell would send Remus into a state of panic and worry, but this yell had a different tone. It was excited, shocked, happy. Remus quickly placed his mug full of coffee on the kitchen counter and raced into the living room.

"What?! What happened?" Remus spoke with a slight smile curling his lip, excitement making his heart race and his stomach flip. Sirius was in the middle of the living room sitting on the floor besides little Harry, little Harry who had just recently became their little Harry. Sirius had already been the godfather of Harry, so it only made sense that he and Sirius take Harry in after everything happened. It's not like he and Sirius had taken parenting classes during their years at Hogwarts, but they were managing their newfound life as fathers. It definitely had its ups and downs, but in the end, they loved Harry. They always have. Even before he was actually their's.

"Listen, listen!" Sirius exclaimed, a wide smile on his face that scrunched his eyes and formed crow's feet in the corners of them. There was something about Sirius's smile that never failed to make Remus want to smile with him, and so he did. Sirius turned to Harry, smile still wide, and spoke to him, "C'mon, Hare-Bear! You can do it!"

Harry slightly sputtered at the mouth, his mouth moving but no real sounds coming out of it. "Mmmmm," he mumbled until his blabbering started to make more sense. "Mmmmmooooomm," he continued babbling. "Moomy!" He finally formed.

"Did you hear that?!" Sirius exclaimed, practically vibrating in his seat. He quickly got up, walked in front of Remus, and placed his hands on his shoulders. "That's you, love!"

It was kind of hard for Remus to believe that Harry's first words had been about him, but when the thought finally settled and he accepted it as a reality, he felt emotional. "Wow," his voice trembled when he spoke, but he didn't care enough. "That's... that's amazing."

"Isn't it?" The smile Remus loved so much never left Sirius's face, making his heart flutter. He always found it weird how after all of these years, the little things about Sirius that he saw everyday still managed to make him feel so in love. Sirius gave him  a quick but sweet kiss before looking into his eyes again. "I think we're getting the hang of this whole parenting thing. Next I'll be teaching him how to ride the motorcycle."

"Don't even think about it," Remus chuckled. It was one of those moments where he felt truly happy. No Voldemort in the back of his mind, no sad thoughts of James and Lily— James and Lily, he reminded himself. His mind started to wander off to how excited they would've been if they could hear Harry's first words. Or see his first day at school, or meet his first friend, or teach him how to fly a broomstick...

"Hey." The smile Remus loved so much was gone. Remus's sadness must've been seeped onto his face because Sirius no longer spoke with excitement in his voice. "It's gonna be okay, Remus," he did his best to reassure him. "I mean look, he's speaking! They'd be so proud," Sirius tried to speak happily but found it hard to. Remus couldn't figure out whether he meant James and Lily would be proud of them or Harry, but he shortly realized it would be applied both ways. He was positive James and Lily were watching them right now, not only proud of Harry, but so proud of he and Sirius taking care of Harry. He realized it wasn't a time for sadness but a time for celebration instead.

"You're right," Remus smiled again and Sirius's smile returned. He kissed Sirius again before they both sat back down in the middle of the living room next to Harry and told them how proud they were of him.

"Moomy," Harry repeated, and both Sirius and Remus could feel their hearts melting at the new (and definitely permanent) nickname.

"That's right," Remus told Harry. "Moomy," he chuckled at the nickname.

"If you're Moomy, can I be Dadfoot?"

"How long have you been saving that?"

"Since the day Lily announced she was pregnant."

Remus and Sirius laughed together, causing Harry to join them, even if he didn't know what he was laughing for. They were a bit of a broken family, but they were a family nonetheless. And they really did love each other.
