so this is my second book so no hate cuz i dont know if it is good :(
“Grace, please. Don’t go.” my boyfriend, sorry, /ex/ boyfriend Matt called after me as I stormed out of his house in floods of tears.
I’d hoped tonight would have been a special night as it was our 6 month anniversary. We were planning to have a romantic meal at his house which he would have cooked for me and then spent most of the night watching romance films. But now that had all gone down the drain; as soon as I arrived at his house, I let myself in as the door was already open (he always left the door open for me) and went straight upstairs to his room. The first thing I saw as I walked in was him and this slutty girl from our college, Jas, making out on his bed.
I didn’t even say anything when I saw them. I just burst into tears on the spot and began to run out of his house. He followed me but I didn’t turn around to look at him. Thinking about what I’d just seen made me feel sick and I just wanted to get away from him. As I left the house, I felt Matt grab my wrist to stop me from running away. I pulled away but he still kept running after me.
“It’s not what you think, Grace.” he protested.
“No, it’s exactly what I think. I walk in on you kissing that skank and you think I can just forgive you like that? Well it’s not gonna happen.” I said, turning around quickly.
“I’m sorry.” he said pathetically.
“No you’re not.” I replied, “Don’t think I’m ever gonna forgive you for this. We are well and truly over Matt. Goodbye.”
I turned away from the house and ran back home, crying my eyes out all the way. When I got home I went straight up to my room and lay on my bed crying. As I lay there, I felt something underneath my pillow. I pulled the object out to see that it was a photo of Matt and me at our year 11 prom. I stared at the picture for a while, wishing that we could go back to how things used to be before Jas came along and ruined it all. I tore up the picture, tossing the pieces of paper into the bin next to my bed.
“Is everything alright Grace?” my dad appeared in my doorway looking concerned. I lived with just my dad and sister; my mum died 4 years ago. Dad had to act as both a mum and a dad to my sister, Cassie, and me. He was doing a good job, even though he still found it tough without mum.
“No..” I sobbed, “Matt cheated on me so I dumped him.”
“Aww Gracie,” my dad came over and sat next to me on my bed, “I’m sorry to hear that.”
“I don’t know why I bother anymore dad,” I cried, “Every boy I’ve been out with so far has ended up breaking my heart. I might as well give up.”
“Don’t say that..”
“I’m serious. I think I’m just gonna swear off guys for good. They’re all the same and I don’t want to get hurt again.” I wiped the tears from my face.
“I’m sure there’s one boy out there who isn’t gonna break your heart. You just gotta find him..” dad said.
“Maybe..” I sighed.
“Anyway, you should be excited. You got your work experience starting tomorrow, and I thought you were excited about coming to work at The Venue with me.
The Venue is this club that my dad owns. As I couldn’t be bothered to look for a proper place to do my college work experience at, my dad said I could come and do odd jobs at the club. Working at a club should be pretty cool, but I’ll be there during the day so it won’t be that exciting. I’ll probably just end up being a cleaner or something like that.
“Yeah, I guess so.” I said.
“Well, I hope you feel a little better soon.” dad patted me on the shoulder, “Dinner will be ready in a few minutes.”
The next morning I was woken up by the alarm on my phone, which was A Good Day for Love to Die by The Wanted. The song was really fitting at the moment; love certainly had died after what had happened with Matt last night. I turned the alarm off and started to get dressed. I put on my clothes, brushed my teeth, sorted my hair out and went downstairs for breakfast.
After eating my breakfast of a bowl of coco pops, Dad, Cassie and I left the house to start our day. We dropped Cassie off at her school before making our way to The Venue to prepare for the day’s work. I stayed close to my dad as we got there because I felt really awkward and had no idea what to do.
“Right, let’s get started.” he said, “I need to you help go clean the dressing rooms. We’ve got important guests arriving today so that they can prepare for the gigs they’re doing here over the next two weeks.”
“Okay.” I nodded, “Who are the guests?”
“The Wanted.” dad said.
