My Dad walked off, leaving Nathan and I alone again. I sighed and went to pick up the bucket that Nathan knocked over. Maybe I shouldn’t ask Nathan out now. Maybe all these interruptions were signs that he and I weren’t meant to get together. Either that or they were just signs that it was too soon for me to get with Nathan. I honestly don’t know what I’m going to do about this. I want to be with Nathan, but I’m running out of opportunities to tell him that’s how I feel.
I picked up the cloth that Nathan had thrown at me and put it in the now empty bucket. Nathan stood there awkwardly, watching me trying to clean up the mess he’d made. Well, I’d contributed to the mess a little as well by throwing the cloth at him and the fact that we both had water dripping off us. Just as I picked up the bucket of water and was about to carry it off to refill it, Nathan grabbed my hand, stopping me from walking away.
“Hey, what were you gonna say to me earlier?” he asked quietly in a voice that sounded suggestive and sexy. I think I’m dying of the sexiness overload.
“Um.. I.. well..” I struggled to speak as I felt under a huge amount of pressure to get this right. If I made an idiot of myself whilst asking Nathan out, then everything would go horribly wrong and he wouldn’t want to go out with me, “I was going to tell you that..”
“Hey Nath!” Tom calling over interrupted me talking to Nathan once again. We both turned to see him, Jay, Siva and Max walking towards us. “There’s an Xbox in the green room.. you wanna come and..?” He was about to ask Nathan if he wanted to go and play on the Xbox with them, but Nathan shot him a stern glance that told Tom that Nathan and I were in the middle of something.
“Oh, never mind.” Tom said once he got the message Nathan was trying to give, “I’ll let you two carry on..”
“Wait, what’s going on? Is Nath coming or not?” a confused Max asked the group.
“Max, just come on..” Jay told him.
“Why? Aren’t we waiting for..” he gestured to Nathan.
Tom whispered something in Max’s ear. I’m guessing he was explaining to Max that Nathan and I were trying to have a moment while I asked him out and didn’t want to be interrupted by them and their need to play on the Xbox. Eventually, Max understood what Tom was trying to say to him and a look of enlightenment came over his face. He saluted for some strange reason and winked at Nathan, before being dragged off by his band mates.
“Right, anyway..” Nathan muttered.
“Yeah.. so, erm.. I was thinking that maybe we..” I started to say again.
“Grace! Work!” my Dad appeared again and had another go at me.
“Fuck it.” I grumbled, “I’ll ask you again another time..” I let go of Nathan’s hand and walked away from him, heading to the kitchen behind the bar area to refill my water bucket.
As I was in the kitchen, stood by the sink watching the water from the tap pour into the bucket, I looked down at my wet clothes after I’d hugged Nathan earlier. He and I had been having such amazing times together, even if this was only my second day here. It was as if we were dating already, but we hadn’t made it official yet. For some unknown reason, I started crying in the kitchen and leaned against the counter as tears dripped down my cheeks.
“Are you alright?” Siva appeared in the doorway and heard me crying.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” I lied, wiping the tears away.
“No you’re not. Why are you crying?” he asked, coming to stand opposite me.
I sighed. “What do you do if you keep trying to tell someone you love them but you get interrupted everytime?”
