I stopped talking to Hazel and Grace. I hung around with Lilly and Chloe, Owen most of the time right next to me. It felt good to have him with me. Also I did my own things. Went to a concert of band Lilly knew, her brothers wife's cousins band was playing nearby and she wanted to see the lead singers girlfriend and cousin of the cousin of her brothers wife. What a mouthful all those connections.
We stood in the very middle and it was great. I got to meet the band and Allison, the cousin and girlfriend. But in the beginning she was a little bit busy. Some girl had yanked her hair and she was bleeding a little on the back of her head. Ashton-the lead singer- looked angry and as if he was about to faint.
I also met Lilly's brother and his wife. He was a bit clingy towards his wife, but I guess he has the rights to do so.
But yeah, it was great and they promised to keep in touch, which I thought they wouldn't. But I was wrong. My picture got posted on social media, they had texted me and Skyped with Lilly and me. It was weird because you read every possible scandal about them and there they were. Talking to you on your computer screen. Really odd. A lot to take in as well.
But in just two weeks, everything seemed so normal and happy. Only if my mom would find a job I'd say with no doubt I'd be the happiest I have ever been.
''Mom, I'm home!'' I said and I smelt a scent, I knew she was making cookies.
''Hello there momster.'' I said, throwing my bag off my shoulder and sat on the counter. ''Is it true? Is my nose not lying to me?'' I asked and she laughed.
''No, it's true. They'll be done in five minutes.'' My mouth already was starting to water.
''Mom, have you found a job yet?'' I asked as she passed me a mug with tea and sighed.
''Not yet, honey, but you don't need to worry about i-'' The backdoor flew open and there was my sister. She had a suitcase in hand and a bewildered look on her face, like she came here running, which would explain the leaf in her hair.
''Mother!'' She bellowed and I frowned. What was she even doing home?
''Hi honey! Want a cup of tea?'' I put down my cup and looked at them.
''No mom!''
''Why are you home?'' I asked and my sister turned towards me.
''She got fired!'' My sister yelled and I got it. My sister got my mom fired three times... I still don't know how, nobody would tell me but this time my sister wasn't allowed to moms work and when she was off to college, she made mom promise she wouldn't do a single thing to get her fired.
''Yeah, she has been for longer, and it's not that bad. Recession, stuff like that.'' I said and jumped off the counter to hug my sister, welcoming her back home. She hugged me back halfheartedly as she threw mom glances.
I sat down on the couch and pulled my sister with me to it.
Mom slowly followed with new tea and cookies. Mom looked wary and I started to get suspicious as well.
''Spit it out mom, we won't tell dad, as long as it doesn't involve cheating of course.'' My sister said coldly and mom almost spewed out her tea.
''Never!'' My lips formed a small smile. ''Is that why you came home this quick?''
''Just tell us mom!'' Now I started to get very curious.
''Well, my boss was this woman,'' mom said it with disgust. ''And she liked to flirt, with every man in the office. She got a few in her bed and it disgusted me, but I said nothing. Until she saw your dad pick me up every day from work and bring me as well and she set her eyes on him. She flirted with him for three months until I asked if she could stop. She said she didn't know what I was talking about. So another month went by and she kept talking to your father. So one day I overheard her talking to some colleagues she wanted him and I got furious. I stalked over and 'kindly' asked her if she could please keep her legs as closed as her work files. And I got fired.'' Mom said and quickly sipped her tea.
I looked at my sister and howled with laughter. Soon both of them joined me and it was a nice moment.
''Oh god mom, that is epic!'' My sister screamed while I could barely breath with laughter. Our own mother, was like a saint. She never swore, never said a word and dad was always the one to do something like that, but mom? Never.
We sat there smiling before we started talking about everything, although Owen wasn't mentioned.
Until the bell rang, making my mom get up and open the door. And she was followed by Owen, making my sister sit up straight, and slightly fix her hair, and pull the leaf out.
''Who is that?'' She asked and I nearly got jealous, but my sister was prettier than me, so it wasn't hard to be jealous.
''Hi Owen.'' I said getting up and I went in for a hug but he grabbed my face and kissed me, making my sister gasp and mom giggle.
''What was that for?'' I whispered and Owen smiled.
''I saw you were uncomfortable with your sister looking at me.'' I melted, slightly of course.
Okay no, I was a puddle on the floor if Owen hadn't held me.
''So, I know you and you don't go kissing random guys so I guess this is your boyfriend?'' She asked and Owen stuck out his hand for my sister to shake behind my back and when he pulled back I saw my sisters nail imprints, which most likely was her way of saying 'hurt my sister and I will cut your dick off', but he didn't say a thing about it.
''Why are you here?'' I asked smiling.
''I didn't see you a lot in school today so yeah.'' He had actually been by my side the entire time, and even switched a class so he could see me more often. I had scolded him about it, but he just laughed.
I smiled knowingly and just pecked his lips before my sister started asking questions.
