After you've finished getting dressed and having your breakfast, you made your way to the room with the telephone. You had to tell Arthur that the butler knows your cover. You didn't really know what to do, so it seemed best to you.

"I see... so he knows." You heard Arthur sigh. You didn't tell him he was a Demon as well though. It felt like you'd betray Sebastian if you told since you've promised not to tell anybody. "Listen, you'll just go on as scheduled. If I got it right, you'll work with the Earl soon, so make sure to gain his trust." Arthur spoke.

You let out a simple "mhm." as a response, wanting to hang up when you heard Arthur's voice call your name. "Be safe, alright?" He asked with a worried tone. "I might not serve you anymore, nor can I consume your soul as an exchange for you to work for me, but still... I want you to be alright, okay?" He whispered.

You didn't respond and hung up. You weren't bound to him anymore, which was odd enough. The demon had so much interest in your soul, yet he threw it away so carelessly. "Arthur..." You whispered to yourself as you made your way out of the room, ready to go to Ciel's study.

"Miss Lynette, I must say, that dress suits you very well." The butler had just come around the corner with a smile. "Ah, thank you, Sebastian. It was a present from my father for my 15th birthday." You replied with a smile, being quite flattered by the compliment.

"What a nice father you have." Sebastian said as he stepped closer to you, trapping you in a corner yet again. "Why does he always do that?! I'm getting sick of it, yet it's still so... thrilling...?"

"That reminds me..." Sebastian said as he held your chin up. "We've planned a ball for the day after tomorrow to celebrate the cooperation of the Funtom Company and the Sapphire Tea House. Since you're out guest of honour, I'll take you shopping later in the afternoon to find a suiting dress." He let go off of you and turned around.

"We'll meet at 3pm in the entrance hall. Don'tbe late, dear." He chuckled as he made his way down the corridor. "Oh great... A ball to celebrate the cooperation. But... doesn't that mean... Arthur attends too...?"

After your 2h of work with the Earl, you felt quite tired, but you knew you couldn't take a rest since you had to meet up with Sebastian soon. You quickly made your way to your room to get yourself ready to go out.

You quickly got your black cloak and swung it over your shoulders, since it has been a little cold outside lately. You tied the bow that held the cloak in place together and rushed downstairs to meet Sebastian awaiting you already.

The two of you stepped outside and got into the carriage. "What about Ciel?" You asked, wondering where the Earl was as the carriage started. Sebastian let out a sigh. "He said he isn't interested in helping you pick out a dress. I'm sorry if this makes you feel uncomfortable, since you have to go with me." He apologised.

"Don't worry, it's fine, really." You nervously said, getting a smirk from Sebastian. "No reason to become nervous." He chuckled. You rolled your eyes and looked outside the window, remembering the thing about Arthur.

"Sebastian, will my... father attend the ball too?" You asked, without turning your face towards him. "Of course he will." Sebastian responded. "You seem sad. Don't you want to see him...?" Sebastian asked.

Tears made their way into your eyes. "Sebastian... I..." You felt so helpless that moment. "You probably know that he isn't my father..." You mumbled. "He's just my boss. Sebastian, I'm in despair!" You cried out, getting a worried look from Sebastian.

"I can't kill you, nor the Earl!" You admitted, tears streaming down your face. "What am I supposed to do...?" You buried your face in your hands. "He'll get rid of me if I don't do my job!"

Sebastian looked at you with big eyes, a little shocked. "Miss Lynette..." He began, cupping both your cheeks and wiping away your tears with his thumbs. "Crying doesn't suit a pretty lady like you." He whispered with a smile. "A smile is what fits this beautiful face best."

You locked eyes with him. His ruby orbs sparkled warmly, making you feel calm. "But... he's a bad man, after all... Not only is he an assassin, he's also dealing with drugs, is involved in various other crimes... He isn't interested in an cooperation after all..." You sniffed.

"Don't worry." Sebastian tried to comfort you. "We'll come up with something if we explain it to the young master. The Phantomhives get rid of anybody that might harm the reputation of their name and company." He smiled at you.

"Now, let's put on a smile and get you the nicest dress for the ball, shall we?" Sebastian asked as the carriage stopped. You nodded and gave him a smile. "Maybe this isn't bad at all..."

"Hmm. So he didn't want to cooperate after all, just so he could kill me...?" Ciel repeated after the story Sebastian had told him. A devilish smile came across Ciel's face. "We'll make sure to show him the best hospitality of the Phantomhive's then, right, Sebastian?" He asked, getting the same smirk in response.

"You see, Miss, the "best hospitality" is something like a codeword between us. It means as much as "Make sure that person dies the most painful way possible." Sebastian explained to you.

You looked at him with big eyes. "D-die?! You want to kill Arthur?" You asked in disbelief, basically jumping out of your seat. "Isn't it the only way to get rid of him?" Ciel asked as he set down his spoon he had just eaten his dessert with.

You sweatdropped and anxiously looked at both of them, realizing that Ciel was right. After all, Arthur wasn't always treating you good.

•••

Arthur had often hit me whenever I did something wrong. After I offered him to work for him instead of him eating my soul, he had basically just took advantage of me.

Of course, he also treated me good sometimes; giving me presents, surprising me with a nice dish or taking me out to some nice place... But when he started the assassin training, he had turned more harsh.

Punishments like abuse, almost starvation, cold baths or even sexual harassment was usual for me that time. Yet, he always acted like I was his property, though I wasn't bound to him anymore. What should a weak girl like me do about it, anyways?

It was my only place to live, my only way to survive. If I would've run away, I probably would've starved or gotten sick.

"I suppose you're right..." I sighed, sitting back down. Ciel let out a sigh as well. "He's a criminal. I'm surprised myself we didn't find out sooner." Ciel admitted. "However, we take down anybody that tries to spit on my name."

You looked down nervously. "Besides..." Sebastian began. "The Queen will be glad to hear that another obstacle gets taken down." He said as he began to take away the dirty dishes. "It's the best we can do." Ciel added.

You nodded in agreement. "I'm sorry Arthur, it's the only thing we can do... Isn't it?" You thought to yourself. "I'll make sure to remember you and your teachings."
