It happened five years ago during eighth grade. I found my parents looking around, probably searching for me. They came all along Winston Ground, two miles from home amidst their busy schedule, to support me for the district track race.
I called. They waved their hands as they found me, and dad, despite holding two smoothies, made a heart sign before they settled down on the fifth row.
The coach called me and suggested that I must prepare for the next race. So far I eventually entered the semifinal by shedding my blood, sweat and tears, and there was no turning back.
The crowd cheered as the mc announced through the mic - 'Blue Ribbon's runner: Allesia Grey!' My teammates hugged me and then showed me a thumbs up as I walked towards the red track.
I held up my right hand with which the blue ribbon that signifies our glory was tied and then I warmed up.
I ran very fast when the gun was shot and soon enough I ran passed the third girl Georgia. Then there were only two girls left - Natalie and Helena.
I tried my hardest to pass them but they were amazingly fast as expected from the 2015 marathon champion, Danielle Dough's team.
Suddenly my coach's advised struck my head. I thought of a headless hen, running towards me which gave shivers to my spine that only a few inches away my speed miraculously fastened. My bird phobia actually helped me that time that I ran passed the two and finally cut the white ribbon.
The coach ran towards me and sat me on his shoulder, being happy for entering the finals. My friends came along and cheered on me too. My dad constantly gave French kisses to me from his seat along with mom jumping from beside dad not caring about the annoyed guy sitting beside her as she waved her hands.
I was the first Blue Ribbon's trainee to enter the finals but what I wanted was to be the first winner at the district race. I was so tired after continuously running three times but still I insisted to do so.
'After 10 minutes will the race be held' announced the mc.
"We can stop here if you want to," said Coach. "Don't strain yourself too much."
"I'm alright, coach," I made my final decision and then went to the starting line. . .
