When Darkness Rises

Chapter 2

Shadow was in complete shock. 

After stopping the attack the robot retaliated charging up its laser. In a blink of an eye sonic had blasted threw the robots core leaving behind a huge hole in the middle. It stood there for a few seconds before falling down with a loud crash, shattering into pieces.

Shadow and Tails just watched as sonic slowly flew down to ground level. As he reached the grown his fur faded back to its original blue. He began to sway falling forward before Shadow rushed to his side and held him up. Tails soon joined them, but before Tails could interject Amy was rushing towards them shouting about Sonic. Shadow didn't have the patience for the brat so he quickly grabbed the emerald. Tails held on to Shadows other side.

"Chaos control!"

With a flash all three left right before Amy reached them.

"Hey come back you cant just leave me here!"

With an irritated sigh she stood their crossing her arms.

"Ugh boys are such jerks!"

The three soon appeared with a flash inside of what seemed to be a living room. Tails didn't have time to ask where they were his concerns were if sonic was okay. They both placed him on the couch laying him down gently. Shadow wanted answers and he wanted them now. He looked over to the fox who waved him over to the kitchen. Tails knew he had some explaining to do.  Tails took a seat and Shadow began to ask his questions, "So fox mind filling me in?" Tails swallowed and fiddled with his fingers before speaking, "W-well um uhh" The black hedgehog sighed, "Look I'm sorry but I really need to know what's wrong." 

Tails took a deep breath and sighed. "It was all my fault. It was a little while after you disappeared on one of your missions, everyone doing they're usual hobby's. I thought it would be the perfect time to test my new invention but... I needed a chaos emerald and well."

"I'm guessing sonic happened to have one on him."

"That and because he was a born user able harness and control the energy of the emerald. I wanted to make a device to replace the need for emeralds. Allow users to go super without the need for all seven." Shadow crossed his arms, "You realize users already have a way to combat this right? It's not the first time that I or even sonic for that matter have been able to do this."

"I know this but.." Tails looked away as he continued, "Because of the super emeralds no longer existing knuckles and I don't fully know how to use the unlimited power. So when sonic agreed to help me I got overly excited and had him test this devise out for me. He has better experience then me with the emeralds." The fox looked out into the living room before continuing, "The device was more or less a remote control. By placing an emerald inside it will generate a sort of energy field that gathers chaos energy."

Shadow didnt like this. Generating energy is one thing but forcing it under your own control is difficult for non users. Yes sonic was experienced in chaos energy but purely just positive side. Shadow was gaining a fear that the device imputted the wrong energy. He glanced at the remote.

"Anyway I placed the gem inside and told sonic to do his transformation and the results that he gave... well impressively horrifing."

Shadow raised a brow,  "How so?"
The fox resonded, "Well he transformed but the shock wave was massive. The lab was nearly destroyed." Tails looked up at shadow to see what his reaction was, it was almost as if he was surprised. It was hard to tell with him. However the hedgehog was wondering what sonics reaction was more then his own. He held the remote inspecting it.

"I-I couldn't believe it either nor could sonic however not a second he doubled over, and coughing up blood."

This got shadows attention, "what? Blood?" This was start to confirm his fear. Tails nodded,"I tried reaching him but sonic looked paniced and smashed the remote in two. What your holding now is the prototype." He pointed his finger at the device, "After he destroyed it his fur turned back and he passed out."

Shadow was furious, he couldn't believe this. "Look kid do you have any idea what you've done to his chaos flow!"

Tails couldnt muster up a response that wasn't an excuse. He sat in silence, shadow was losing Patience with this kid.

"Tails answer now!"

"I.. I'm sorry I tried fixing it I truely did! But nothing worked."

Shadow slammed his fist on the table making tails practically jump out of his chair.

"How idotic can you! This type of experiment is not meant to be used on users. Man made chaos devices open gateways for negative energy. Thats was we use the emeralds. They balance each other. Do you even understand what you have created!"

The fox never looked so guilty. Tails couldn't find the strength to answer.
Shadow got up and walked away leaving tails in the kitchen. He couldn't look at him anymore. He knew first hand what that type of energy was like. As much as that hedgehog annoyed him..he still admired him.

Shadow glanced at the couch. Sonic was still passed out. Grunting he started to walk away but..he knew the hedgehog would wanna talk.

Great

Might as well sit. Walking towards the sleeping hedgehog he gently lifted his head and sat down. Allowing sonics head to rest in his lap. Glancing down at sonic he couldn't help but feel warm.

Damn it

The destruction at tails lab was still untouched. That may be because of where its located which was off in by the ocean. Their was debre everywhere, small fires still continued to burn. The robot had been torn to pieces by sonic.

But not completely.

It was a good thing eggman only made that robot for collecting data. He hovered in his craft down to the debre. With a press of a button two arms emerged from the sides and started to push the scraps away. He stopped when he reached where the head was or at least what was left of it. Moving in closer he leaned down and pushed another button located next to where the right eye was. A little slot open ejecting a disk.

He gave a wicked grin.

"Hehe poor little rodent if only you hadn't been so quick to pull another magic trick."

He gave his manical laugh.

"Now its my turn to have some fun."
