My entourage consisted of Cassandra and Selene

My entourage consisted of Cassandra and Selene. Cassie being a powerful enchantress would be really helpful in casting spells, and Selene, along with being a prophecy witch, was also a healer. We three together would be able to judge how crucial the situation was between the werewolves and the vampires.

We needed to deduce the severity of the situation before warning everyone of a possible supernatural war. If this was a war between two species, then the possibility of involving witches would be very bleak. But if we were able to find any evidence of humans being involved or harmed, then witches would be inclined to fight for their safety. Humans, however weak, were still large in number, and their uncanny ability to recognize weakness in their enemy could very well lead us to our doom. We witches never underestimated humans, for our ancestors had always faced their wrath.

Conrad and I were in one car and Beta Marcus, Selene, and Cassandra were in another. My nerves were going haywire at the thought of meeting my mate's pack and probably his family too. I was already aware of the fact that Conrad wasn't the rightful heir to the throne which meant there could be various rebels in his packs right now. He had recently acquired the position of Alpha King when all this drama with vampires began to take place. I wondered how hard it was for him to manage all these new responsibilities. My father and I were born to manage our kingdom. It was something we grew up with and still, on some days it would get hard for both of us.

As I was drifting in and out of my thoughts, I could feel my magic crackling. I was aware of his close proximity as soon as we got inside his car this morning. The smell of Conrad was comforting, but it was also doing some inexplicable things to my magic as well as my body. It was getting harder to be with him in this enclosed space, and my magic wasn't making it easier for me anytime soon. Even the air around us felt heavy. He placed one hand on the gearshift and another on the steering wheel. I was beginning to dream about me being wrapped around his strong arms when his clearing throat snapped me out of my daydream.

"We're here," Conrad said, and I looked around to see that he was right. I didn't even realize that he had stopped his car. His pack, the Wild Creek pack, was only an hour away from our castle, but the scenery around it was completely different from my palace. His pack was safely hidden inside a forest. I had asked him to show me his pack boundaries, so we got out of his car before entering the dark forest. As soon as I got out of his car, a strange sensation washed over me. It felt like the forest was calling out to me.

I slowly entered the dark forest, instinctually going deeper into it. The mysterious forest beckoned me into its throbbing heart, and the haunting ballad of its ancient song called out to me. The excellence of the dawn's light had not yet speared the lush green vegetation. Because of this, black shadows hung in the grooves. This forest was magical, mysterious, and breathtaking.

"Eva?"

I turned around to find Selene smiling at me knowingly.

"You feel a connection with this place, don't you?" Selene asked, but I could see that she already knew my answer.

"Yes. I can. This forest is magical," I said, to which she smiled and signalled someone behind me to come closer.

Cassandra, Beta Marcus, and Conrad were present around us. My mate was looking exceptionally impatient.

"What's wrong?" he queried when my eyes met his.

"Nothing. I just feel a connection towards this forest," I answered him with a smile. He exhaled in relief and began to look at Selene, who was talking to Cassandra about something.

"Eva, come closer and hold our hands. We are going to perform a protection spell," Selene instructed. I walked closer to the two witches and held their hands without a question. I trusted Selene, and if she thought that a protection spell was needed within this pack, then the most sensible decision would be to listen to her. Defying Selene had already led people to their demise. It's safe to say that I never wanted to be included in that list.

Cassandra closed her eyes, her fingers firmly clasped around ours. She began chanting the protection spell.

"Energies of air, hear our prayer: we call upon you to help create our circle of protection.
Energies of fire with powers to admire, we call upon you to help create our circle of protection.
Energies of water, hear our offer: we call upon you to help create our circle of protection.
Energies of earth responsible for our birth, we call upon you to help create our circle of protection.
This is our will so must it be.
Harm to none, nor return to me."

I closed my eyes and felt the wind howling around us, hitting boldly against my skin like an angry mother, sending a shiver down my body and whipping my hair madly across my face. It felt as if I was cleaning my room and dived headfirst into a thick mesh of cobwebs. I could hear the sound of water nearby, splashing and burbling, and the rustling of trees around us. I could almost imagine the trees swaying to the beat of the wind. My magic was crackling inside me when everything went silent, and my body tingled with warmth. It rose from my toes travelling towards my head, and I felt a sense of calm wash over me. It was serene and safe. I knew this was the magic of the protection spell. Cassandra's spell was successful and now everyone within this territory would be safe from any magic as long as they were inside this boundary.

I opened my eyes to see Beta Marcus and Conrad looking at us with awe-filled eyes. They had felt it too. Every pack member would have felt the spell's magic. When a negative spell was cast on anyone, their body knew instinctively, and they felt a sour, very negative feeling in their gut. But when a positive spell was put on anyone, they felt the warmth and positivity inside them.

"Come, the pack is waiting for you to meet them." Conrad looked at me while saying those words, and my heart skipped a beat when I realized what he just said.

"They are waiting to meet their Luna." This time it was Beta Marcus who said those words. I could feel the wild thumping of my heart. My hands were getting clammy. Taking a deep breath, I turned to follow Conrad.

I was practically shaking at the thought of meeting his pack members. Whatever happened, I was strong enough to handle it. I repeated that again to calm myself.

This was going to be an interesting day. A sigh left my mouth at the thought.
