Lies, People lie because they are ashamed of what they have done, people lie because they are scared to face the truth, people lie because they can't face the world. And the most dangerous lies are the one that you tell yourself.
Naomi called me after Jakey left. She surely wanted to meet but I didn't pick up.
Dase, pick up. I'm worrying over here.
Sorry
Never mind.
You wanna hang out tomorrow?Can't
Why?.
Trust me, I wanted to tell her the truth, everything about the date with Rafeal but I couldn't. She would hate me for not standing up to Jakey and so I picked up the easier option. I lied.
Some family thing
K.That's no problem. Let's meet now.
Okay
My backyard in an hour.
Sure
I have got a surprise for you
❤What?
My dearest girl
How can it be a surprise if I tell u what it is
See you soon
ByeFor the first time, that evening my hands shook, my mind was unsettled.
Naomi was the person I had confided everything in and now I was keeping a secret from her because.
.. I was ashamed.
I don't know what I had been expecting when she said surprise but it was definitely not what awaited me.
Nao's backyard was lit up with fairy lights and she was standing there with a bouquet of burgundy-violet sunflowers, my favourite and instead of a plain string they were tied with a bunch of Ferrero Rocher stuck together on a ribbon, yet again my favourite chocolates.
She started with me with accusing eyes still the ghost of a smile was apparent on her face, "You are late, Miss"
And I laughed. But my laughter was mainly to hide the butterflies I felt in my stomach.
What was going on? It was too much for me to comprehend.
And then Naomi got down on her knees and I stared at her as if she had grown a horn.
"What are you doing?" I hushed and quickly glanced all around. What if someone saw us like this? Thankfully there was no one about.
"Will you be my girlfriend Daisy Beckendorf?" She asked.
I couldn't reply. How could I after what Jakey said? And Mom...
..she wouldn't support me either.
"Yes, take all your time, I'm not in the least nervous over here," she said bringing me back to the present.
