Fanfiction: Tokyo Ghoul

Character(s): The main character is a certifiable crazy and I love her personality. She is called "Hatter-san" by tons of other ghouls and goes by "Aki" at school, although she also admitted that isn't her real name. Her real name is later revealed to be 'Yami.' She has neon orange hair, which I though was interesting, but she wears a wig at school to hide that. At least the character isn't stupid, she does hide her hair, which is something that would give her away immediately, especially since she said she had spent some time in prison. Overall, not a bad OC, she isn't a cliche Mary Sue. Well done author, well done. There were other OCs in the book as well, and the only complaint I have is how quickly they were introduced towards the end. Finding out she had a brother was a cool shock, it made me gasp. But every new character after that was less and less exciting. My only complaint with the new characters is the not-so-smooth introduction for new characters. The betrayals would also be a lot more emotional and smoother is you gave the characters a closer connection to each other, not just having them show up. Even just some childhood flashbacks would be fine.

Plot: I honestly had no idea what was going on in the start. It seemed like many random things squished into chapters. Things slowly began to make more and more sense as things progressed though which is good, although the second last chapter leading up to the end seemed just a little rushed. The book also has a sequel, and I may check it out later.

Writing: There are very little mistakes in the book in the way of grammar, however, some of the paragraphs should probably be spaced out. For example, when a new character is speaking, just add a space. I know you wouldn't normally do that in an actual novel, but it just makes it easier to read using Wattpads format. Overall though, the book is very descriptive! Things are described well and things move along fairly smoothly. One more thing though, the texting talk. Saying things like 'lol' just doesn't sit well with me. If the character is texting fine, but using words that aren't words in the writing isn't the greatest. Overall though, the writing wasn't bad.

Notes: Honestly though, the best part is when she calls Juuzou 'Bob' because she doesn't know his name. A good book to read if you're looking for a Tokyo Ghoul book to binge-read in a day or two.

And here are my ratings:

Character(s): 4/5 shurikens

Plot: 3.5/5 shurikens

Writing: 3.5/5 shurikens

My overall rating: 3.8/5 shurikens

Please remember this is my own opinion! I do not want to upset anyone, that makes me feel really awful!
