The ninja were lounging around their large home they shared, there was no urgent need for them so they took this rare moment to chill, though to be fair they haven't been needed for a while as Ninjago has been fairly peaceful recently much to their surprise.
They were all just doing their own thing, eating, watching the TV or even taking a nap. Nya took advantage of this time to go out leaving a house full of boys.. minus the caretaker but she worked for them long enough now to get used to them, as much as they still often got on her nerves.
Jay was watching TV, some talk show. He sighed.
"It is so BORING! There's nothing for us to do. Why can't some evil guy show up and almost kill us?" Jay whined to himself.
"You want something or someone dangerous to show up and potentially cause harm or death just to cure your boredom? Why can't you just be happy knowing everyone is safe for once?" The caretaker said as she was cleaning up the living room, moving things and dusting etc.
"Oh Davenport you wouldn't understand.. When you're the hero who saves people and fights bad guys all you wanna do is just that! I live for it." Jay laughed.
"Yeah.. Okay. Are you done with this?" She sighed, picking up a bowl with a few scraps of popcorn sat at the bottom.
"Yeah, you can eat them if you want" Jay moved his head, trying to see the TV.
Davenport didn't pay him much mind and went into the kitchen to throw the leftovers away and wash the bowl. She looked out the window to a beautiful view of some of the mountains, escaping in her mind to forget for just a minute she wasn't in this house constantly running after these boys and cleaning up their mess. She was 18 and practically a mother to 5 boys, she doesn't hate it completely but it could just be tiring as hell. At least they paid her well and she gets to stay there in the spare bedroom and get to eat whatever's in the house, though she's the one who does the shopping.
"Hey Davenport?!" Kais voice shouted from a room upstairs. "Cole dropped a whole-ass cake on the floor"
"You've got to be kidding me.. How do these guys cause so much trouble and make so much mess.." Davenport sighed and went upstairs to assess the damage.
__________________________________________________________________Orlando was leading Lobby through the forest, they were trailing through, on their way to the city.
"How do you know your way through this place? I got lost so easily last night.." Lobby asked.
"Well when you live here and always explore around and also have to go into the city every now and then you begin to learn your way around, obviously there are trails but they don't cover the whole of the forest, there's very few areas I haven't explored." Orlando answered, hopping over tree roots and zig-zagging around.
"Ah I suppose so.. plus I guess everything's less visible in night and such, but you probably have good vision in the night? How much dog and how much whale exactly are you?" Lobby felt like asking more questions, she felt it would take her mind off of last nights events and also she thought it would be helpful getting to know this friendly stranger a bit more.
"Oh well I dunno- I mean I can see pretty well in the dark but not perfectly, it's still dark. I'm not really sure because I've never really seen other dogs like me, the weird ones that walk on two legs. I'm so isolated out here that my only friends are the fish- who make amazing meals by the way- and the animals like birds and stuff. In terms of my orca-ness I also have never seen one of them but I'm gonna guess the funky little fin on my back and tail are from my orca side, also my teeth are different on the upper and lower jaw, I don't need to chew food either." Orlando rambled on, she seemed to just never stop talking once she got going. But it was calming for Lobby at this moment in time, just listening to someone speak in such a calm and happy way.
"Don't you ever want to just leave the forest and live a nor- another lifestyle? Like in the city?" Asked Lobby.
"Oh I think about it at times but I remember that this place is my home and it's where I feel safest, maybe the future will change but at this moment in time I love the forest and don't want to be anywhere else. I'm also single so I guess that is a factor, otherwise I'd have the forest and a pretty lady pulling at both my arms, there just ain't enough of the O-Dog to go around!" Orlando laughed.
"Oh.. Lady? You're a lesbian? Or bi?" Lobby perked up, she felt comfort knowing she was with someone like her.
"Yeah I'm a lesbo, I grew up in the forest on my own without any men- I couldn't not be a lesbian! I don't have much contact with anyone really but I've always had a preference for women, but none have really had me head over paws, I'm just too in love with nature I suppose. Plus I'd have to find a dog or somethin' I don't think any human-y people would want me." Orlando smiled. She was considering mentioning Lobby's girlfriend but decided it would be rather insensitive.
"Anyways where are we actually going? The police? I doubt they'd do much." Lobby said.
"Oh god no, fuck the cops, I have some others in mind." Orlando responded.
For about an hour they kept on walking until they made it to the city. From there they walked even more, up and down hills, across roads and just non stop walking, they took breaks every now and then because Lobby just didn't do as much walking as Orlando does. Eventually they walked upon this large house, it had quite a modern look and style, it looked like someone rich was inside.
"You... Know someone who lives there?" Lobby looked at Orlando confused, she didn't look the type to mingle with wealthy people, in the nicest way possible, Orlando looked like a bit of a mess.
"Sort of? Not personally but they helped me once when there was a huge forest fire and they said if I ever need help again to just visit them and they gave me their address. Cool right?" Orlando said.
She rung the doorbell and they stood there for about 20 seconds before the door was answered.
"Hello? Who are you two?" It was Davenport the caretaker, though them two didn't know that.
"Oh uh I'm looking for the ninja. They told me if I ever need help to come here." Orlando said.
"Really? Okay.. Come in then.. and please wipe your paws on the way in.." Davenport took note of the scruffy wild dog who wore no shoes.
Orlando shrugged and wiped her paws.
"Boys! You have visitors." Davenport shouted. She then walked off into another room to mind her own business.
"She looks fit" Orlando whispered into Lobby's ear.
Lobby didn't know what that meant.
The ninja all came up into the hall where the two stood.
"Oh you're the forest dog, right?" Kai said, smiling.
"You bet- I need you guys' help, well. She does." Orlando put her paw on Lobbys shoulder.
"What seems to be the issue?" Cole asked.
"It's.... It's a long story." Lobby sighed.
"Well we have time, let's go sit down in the living room and we can talk about it." Cole smiled. He could sense how worried she was.
They all went and sat down.
"So tell us the story." Kai put his arms behind his head and laid back against the sofa.
"Well basically.. Me and my girlfriend were walking in the forest and then suddenly we were being chased by a monster, it was really weird looking, Orlando drew a picture of roughly what it looked like, anyways, it was terrifying! It.. It chased us and then we ended up hiding in a cave but it found us and then these people were also there dressed in black and in masks then.. then my girlfriend found somewhere for me to hide and-and then it got her! They got her! They took her away and they took the monster away I don't know what happened to her but please you need to help!" Lobby was shaking as she spoke and when she finished she just burst into tears.
Lloyd passed her a tissue and patted her back.
Orlando passed the boys the picture she drew.
"Wow.. That's.. Weird lookin'." Kai said.
"Don't be rude I'm sure she put a lot of effort into that drawing" Jay remarked.
"Oh shut the fuck up you idiot" Kai slapped Jay on the head in a joking way.
Orlando got up and walked around the room, looking at all the decoration and things on the wall. Quite the contrary to her home.
"Ya'll got snacks?" Orlando turned around and asked the ninja.
"Yes in the kitchen." Zane responded.
"Well this is gonna take a while to get to the bottom of but I'm sure we'll get there eventually. This may not be the first time this happens, they seemed to be ready and prepared so that may mean they are planning on doing this again. I guess a forest is the ideal location because less witnesses." Lloyd said.
"Yeah, maybe we can go back to see if anything was left behind in the forest where it happened, maybe any fabric that got torn off of clothes or scales from the animal? I'm sure there'll be something." Cole responded.
The whole group were chatting, beginning to plan out what they were going to do, though it would take a while to find the ones who did it.
Lobby was staying quiet, she knew that they knew what they were doing and didn't want to interrupt. Zane passed her a glass of water.
"Thank you.." She muttered and began to drink.Meanwhile Orlando made her way to the kitchen, Davenport was in there washing up.
"What do you want?" Davenport asked, not even needing to turn around to know she was there.
Orlando tilted her head. "A snack if you must know." Orlando said.
"Go wild then, we have plenty.. I mean.. you already are but that's besides the point." Davenport turned around to look at the orcadog who was rummaging through cupboards.
"Hey! I may live in the woods but that doesn't make me an animal. I'm quite well behaved. Of course I have my moments but I'm not feral, I mean I live a quite organised life, I live like anyone else except in a forest." Orlando rambled.
"Do you hear yourself speak? Why do you talk so much?" Davenport asked, she wasn't annoyed, she's dealt with worse, she was just. Confused. This dog was so weird.
"I just like talking, it's fun." Orlando smiled. "I don't get to talk with others much so when I do I try and make it count, it's just pent up words trying to escape you know?" Orlando smiled. She began to eat a muffin.
"Weird.. You live in the forest yeah?" Davenport asked, this stranger was quite the curiosity to her. She noticed she was some sort of hybrid, a little like her, she knew other anthro-dogs but none that were hybrids like she was. "Also what exactly are you?"
"Well for the first question yeah I do, I've lived there my whole life, since birth actually. I was raised by wild wolves, then eventually I went off to live by myself, I spent a little bit of time in the city just to get the jist of what being not a complete animal was like then I left. And what am I? 99% sexiness and 1% muffin." Orlando winked as she took another bite of the muffin. Davenport raised an eyebrow. "Just kiddin, I'm a Orcadog, part orca, part dog. I can ask the same thing about you." Orlando smiled.
"Ah.. I see.. Me? I'm a lionfish dog. May I ask your name? Mine's Davenport." She asked. She wasn't overly interested in the orcadog but just felt it was the polite thing to do.
"My name's Orlando, absolutely amazing to meet you, I ain't ever met another dog like me. Not like the ones that stand on 4 legs, as in you know.. The race of canines that walk around on 2 legs like people.. I think we should change our name to dog-people." Orlando once again was rambling.
Davenport looked confused for a moment, she just spoke so much and so fast. But who could blame her? She probably never gets to talk to others often, plus she said she's just met someone like her for the first time in her life. Of course she'd be surprised.
"Anyways, sorry Orlando but I have cleaning to do. I'm sure I'll end up bumping into you again, if you decide to stick around for whatever you wanted from the ninja." Davenport said before leaving the kitchen and going upstairs.
"Damn. I mean she fine tho" Orlando spoke to herself and finished the muffin. She threw the case in the trash and went back to the living room.
"You guys have some sick ass muffins" Orlando said.
"Yeah the caretaker makes em'" Jay responded.
Since Orlando was gone they had all decided they'd go out to the forest tomorrow and investigate.
"Orlando, Lobby, do you two want to stay here for the night?" Lloyd asked, smiling.
"Are you sure? Really? I'd be so grateful.. I don't really want to be on my own right now.." Lobby smiled, wiping tears from her face.
"Of course, you seem shaken from all this and I'd hate to have to send you out on your own with everything you've gone through." Lloyd said. "And you Orlando? Do you wanna stay for the night?"
"Uh...." Orlando thought to herself, she loved the forest but after the whole monster thing she was thinking it'd be better to stay away to be safe. Plus she could use some socialisation. "Yeah why not, I guess I feel sorta unsafe to go back and sleep there on my own.. Thank you guys." Orlando smiled.
"You're welcome, make yourselves feel at home, Kai can show you around if you'd like." Lloyd said.
"Oh that'd be nice.." Lobby mumbled.
Everyone left the living room except for Kai who was ready to give the two a tour of their rather big home.
