I didn't make it to Nina's big day. She was getting a promotion to chef, and she was so excited. For the third time in a row, however I had not made it. We had been on a rocky patch for two months now, and it felt like it was just going to get worse. I stood on the platform waiting for her train."Hey sweetie" I hugged her tightly. She smelt of food and perfume with a hint of train smell. I kissed her,"How was your trip?" She didn't look very happy, her eyes were tired and her face displayed disappointment. We were still on the platform, and it was then that I realised she had no luggage. "Manuel, who are we kidding? This was never going to be perfect..." She stopped and looked away. I think we both know that we are over, we have tried but failed." She began to shake as the sobs ran through her body.
She left on the next train. Driving home I cursed myself, if I hadn't signed this bloody contract. I have lost so many things from my signing to Bayern. As I drove up the driveway and stopped I remembered that I had something for her. I pulled out the blue satin box, tossing it from hand to hand. I opened it. The diamonds caught the light from the moon. I pulled the ring out, and read the inscription, "My darling". It was all over now.
