It had started off as a good day. Marinette had gotten up and was greeted by a smiling kwami. "Good morning, Tikki!" She said, smiling. She got dressed in her usual clothing and wandered downstairs, yawning. "Hi Mom! Hi Dad!" "Morning, Marinette!" Her dad said, watching the news. "Hi, honey!" Her mom said, holding out a plate. "Thanks, Mom! My favorite!" Marinette exclaimed, and sat down on a stool. When she finished the plateful of chocolate chip pancakes, she checked her phone for the time.
According to her phone, it was already way past the time for her to have left. "Bye, Mom! Bye Dad!" Marinette said, scrambling. She grabbed her bag, stuffed her phone inside and ran out the door. She ran to the school and up the stairs, opening the door to her classroom. In her haste to get in as fast as she could, she had accidentally banged open the door, and cringed as it slammed shut.
"Well, well, well," Chloé said, smirking. "Look what the cat dragged in." She and Sabrina giggled. "You're late again, Marinette," Ms. Bustier said, giving her a disapproving look. "Sorry, Ms. Bustier." Marinette said, walking to her seat with her head down. "Come on, girl! It's the third time this week!" Alya whispered. "Why are you late this time?" Marinette replied, "I lost track of       time, I guess," smiling a little.
Usually, with her duties as Ladybug, she was always late and constantly had to make up an excuse so Alya wouldn't find out. Keeping that secret from her was tough, but it was for her protection, so Marinette had no reservations. It was a relief to finally have a valid excuse to use, and to be able to give Alya a solid answer.
Marinette took her tablet and stylus out of her bag, placing them on the table she shared with Alya. Leaning back in her seat, she finally started listening to what Ms. Bustier was saying, and started taking notes.
