I just want to say a big thank you for choosing my story! I'm not all that great at grammar so please bare with me and comment if you see something I've missed.
I started this story when I was younger and I've changed a few things since then but it's still my baby and I hope you love it!
001
The wind blew harshly along with the snow that was being thrown like little tiny grenades. Exploding into a tiny pieces of icy debris that decorated my exposed skin.
I stared at the scene before me. Blinking to ease my confusion.
A plain white field, nothing else. But distinctive footprints leading to a forest that skimmed the edges of the field closely. I followed them. It being the only relative thing of someone else being here in this empty space that was becoming achingly smaller by the minute.
My footsteps quickened, and my breath hitched as the wind whispered against my ear, creating a shrill that ran down my spine.
I slowed, and in that moment I heard talking? Chanting? Maybe praying...
"I wasn't alone here?" I questioned, my heart lifting for a brief second.
Starting to quicken my steps. I headed in the direction of increasing chatter-
I hesitated-
A scream shattered my fear, and curiosity filled me.
I knew that scream.
But who it belonged to - I just couldn't remember.
Another scream echoed through the forest but this one was much more pain felt, laced with so much sorrow?
But I was closer now. I could maybe save them. My footsteps becoming the only rhythm as I ran through the thick snow storm that was becoming harsher by the minute.
I stopped. As soon as I saw the figures crowding around a warm light. Was I too late? What was happening...
Even from where I was standing I saw the figures move away from a limp body that was placed in the dead centre... the body ... the body was glowing.
I breathed forgetting my breath was better held.
The circle of people .... No the circle of things snapped their heads towards me their gr- grey eyes glowing with hunger? I froze dropping my eyes to the body in the middle - who's eyes were trained on mine - only for its mouth to drop open and shout at me.
Run!
Before I could turn. They Pounced.
I woke.
My brown eyes darted open, and my breath came out in hard short takes.
"Why was it always the same thing? "I muttered.
I shook my head slightly as I ran my hands through my now sweaty forehead all the way along, only to find the bonnet I had gone to sleep with was missing.
It had probably fallen off during my chaotic slumber lol.
I sighed another dream, just a dream nothing to worry about. I thought in an effort to calm down the growing anxiousness spreading across my chest.
I searched for my bonnet in my now crinkled cotton sheets. Wanting to put it back over the top of my head in an effort to cover my unruly thick black curls, that were currently spiralled out of control on the top of my head but I couldn't seem it locate it.
The twists I had lazily put them in last night had "magically" come undone and I clicked my teeth in annoyance. Throwing the covers off and I got out of bed scratching an area of my scalp that was particularly irritating.
My eyes glossed around the dorm room, the one I shared with no one, the bed opposite mine had remained vacant for most of my life here at the academy and I was sure it wasn't because I was popular. A ghost of of smirk danced across my lips as a dark laugh left my mouth.
It was better this way anyway.
I made my way to the entrance of my balcony unlocking and swinging the doors open.
I needed some fresh air.
The wind immediately swam through my scalp and I relished in the feeling. Ruffling my hair as I stared out. I lifted my head to the dark sky and the stars that littered it. And a smile graced my lips.
This is was nic-
Unexpected commotion, from down below caught my attention.
Looking down I saw the school's security crowding around one of the school's owned vehicles.
I absentmindedly lent over the balcony to see a lil better, intrigued by the amount of security this one car had.
Whoever was in that car, was probably a new student with high potency or a special guest, or just a kid that was a danger to itself. I sniggered at the thought.
I strained my eyes to see more clearer in the dark. Seeing a man step out, his overly curly brown hair decorated with grey streaks were illuminated in the light of the moon. He greeted the guards around him nodded to another older looking gentlemen that had emerged from thin hair.
So it was a guest, I wonder who he was.
He looked around, suddenly his eyes met mine, even in the dark I could still make out that they were staring at mine. The feeling of anxiousness came back just as fast.
I wasn't good with people at all - I couldn't stop the way I jumped back inside and closed the doors and curtains with uncanny speed.
Stepping away onto my bed a sense of dread crept up my spine. Who was that guy. He only looked at me So why did I run and hide?
yeah its short I know but its the beginning and I hope u likey.
